| still shaking I just got home from a day of car shopping. I took Joey on a walk to let him potty and we always let our lab run free in the yard. Well tonight I did them seperate and I'm so glad. Igloo carley out and we just watch her potty and all of a sudden a huge black dog came into our yard and attacked her. I tried to separate them but the other dog kept chasing carley she is a rescue and has issues with other dogs. So I have to be very careful since she doesn't have a backbone. In our house the pups get along great but other dogs can tell she has esteem issues. The other dog had her pinned down and was biting her neck. I called my husband who came out and he threw the dog off and I carried her inside. She's fine but I couldn't imagine if I had both dogs.

YT 2000 Club Member | That is a fear I have when walking my Yorkies. I always watch to see if any other big dog is out there running loose. I take a spray to protect them but I still watch and do not venture out very far. You all know that Yorkies are fearless! My Spud would take on a great dane. So I watch out. I am so glad your dogs are fine and your husband came to the rescue. |

| That's very scary! I am glad everyone was ok. It should not be so scary to take you own pet outside but irresponsible owners have made it that way.

| Oh my gosh! That's so scary! Poor Carley How is she doing now? How's her neck and her nerves? Bless her heart. Bless your heart! I'm glad you were able to call for your husband. And that you decided to leave Joey inside this time. Whew!

| I am so sorry this happened to you and your baby was attacked. I would still be shaking, too. I sure hope she doesn't have some lingering stress issues from this for too long. Please report the attack to your Animal Control as the dog is dangerous and needs to be watched for by AC. I carry a big, black, pushbutton umbrella for walks, all folded up and dangling from a loop on my wrist but when whooshed open, it certainly discourages dogs when they think about approaching or in a case like this, perhaps even after the attack had started if you had it to suddenly whoosh open and make a big, black scary image for the attacking dog. It could have scared the attacker off this time but might have scared your little one, too, but as long as she didn't run off with the big, mean dog, at least it might have stopped the attack in the event your husband hadn't been there to save the day. If you are going to routinely use the folded up umbrella on walks, you have to slowly desensitize your dog to the process of opening it outside and such but it can work to great discourage dogs from approaching you or perhaps even stopping an already in progress attack. I sure hope tomorrow is a better day!

| Oh my gosh! Thank heavens Carley is okay and Joey wasn't outside too! This scares me to death about having a tiny puppy outside where I live. Idiots who let their animals run wild shouldn't be allowed to keep them! |
