| Hi Welcome back from hibernation!! if you don't want to wait for replies trybsearching pet insurance threads. There was a nice thread on YT that had quite a few responses this last week. People were giving pros n cons to insurance and those that had insurance were listing what types they have or have tried!

| my suggestion is take the money you would put toward monthly insurance and save it plus whatever more you can add monthly and have a cc as backup. i have found the insurance isnt always what it seems but this jmo.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Keep in mind this is out of date, however, it's still a good starting place and a great example of how to evaluate pet insurance. It's done by a vet who has no affiliation w/ any of the companies. I have PetPlan and I really think it's great, for the most part. I used to opposed to insurance, but have changed my mind on that front. You kind of have to weigh things like your dog's age, pre existing conditions etc. Pet ins is most cost effective, usually, in younger dogs. When premiums keep going up w/ age...then you kinda have to evaluate again.

| I got Healthy Paws for Cali. Have also set up a savings acct in addition. It was an interesting process wading through all the insurance companies. Like Wylie's Mom said as the price increases and she gets old I will have to keep assessing.
