Donating YT 500 Club Member | Dog backpack carrier (Finally bought one) Awhile age I posted a thread about how I take my dog Clyde backpacking in a regular human sports backpack. Some of you recommended that he might be more comfortable in a backpack actually made for dogs. Around Christmas time I finally purchased one online. During the crazy Holiday times some issues came up and the delivery was delayed until just yesterday. The backpack says that it is supposed to carrier dogs up to 22 pounds .... but I put Clyde, a 12.5 dog, inside of the bag .... and boy was he cramped! I would hate to see what a 22 pound dog would look like being carried around in it. The issue with this is that the return policy for this backpack is CRAZY ... and will actually cost you $5 more to return the bag than it did to purchase it to begin with. Either way, Clyde LOVES it. The very first time I put him inside the bag he was a little scared ... but after I started carrying him around in it he really calmed down. Now when he sees the bag he jumps up and tries to get in it (because he knows it means mommy is taking him somewhere). I used to take Clyde hiking all of the time, but due to some of his medical issues had to stop bringing him along. Now that I have this backpack he will be able to start coming with me again! Clyde has room to lay down, sit, and with a little more effort turn around inside of the bag. I do, however, think that I will need to invest in a larger bag. This bag was also really cheaply made ... so I think I'll need to invest in a more quality bag as well. As of right now though, it gets the job done & Clyde loves it! |

| I don't have one, but I've thought about getting one, or converting an old backpack into a doggie carrier. One some site I read about emergency preparedness for those with a pet, it mentioned how great it is if you need to evacuate on foot to have a carrier like that as it keeps both your hands free for other things.

I didn't even think of that (the emergency preparedness thing)! I just got my backpack for fun but that is very true that if heaven forbid I needed to evacuate some place with my dogs that this would be the best way to carry them. I think I'll have to get another one for Dexter, now! | |

| Oh I like the backpack idea for Avery also. He is an older guy and tends to hide when scared (hiding spot is not so good, he gets in the Master Bathroom tub). With the Spring storm season approaching I need something for him.
