| tongue in my nose OK, I know the title is kinda gross, but I got home from work an hour ago and am trying to catch up on YT. It is impossible to hold onto a tablet, much less type, with a dog standing on my chest, determinedly licking my face and eyeballs and sticking his tongue up my nose!!! Guess he's happy I'm home and he is reminding me that instead of talking about him, I need to play with him!

| Here are some thoughts. Kissing and getting in between us and our activity is one of their "endearing" little ways of demanding attention be switched and kept 24/7 on them! hehehe. First of all, disagree with that behavior and stop it with a firm "Uh oh" and push him away, keeping constant eye contact with him and tell him "Lie down". Then keep that eye contact and your outstretched pointed finger toward him until he does back off and lie down. He will be back and you will repeat until he gets the message that you and you alone determine play time with him. Stand up to make the point if you must each time he tries it again. And keep that eye contact and stand over him once he lies down to follow-up the message to him that you are serious if he doesn't at first comply. Don't be cranky or scary - just matter-of-fact and using eye contact and body attitude and the "stand down" as his mother or alpha leader in the wild would do to push him back from seeking attention. Once you send a firm-enough message and stick by it, he will learn over time. But be patient as this is a teaching moment and that is what you will be doing, teaching him to stop one behavior and do something else you want. And as we know, dogs or people don't learn things that easily when it goes against their wants! You can establish a greeting and fun time routine for an attention-starved, understimulated, bored dog who's been dying to see you all day so that he gets his loving and attention and lots of fun play to help release all of that pent up anticipation of waiting all day long to see his person; but once that is over, it is over and you get some "me time". But it will take some time for him to learn these things and the order in which they occur. Some say with younger dogs distracting them at first with kong toys and interactive things will help them keep busy and involved playing while you catch up on your life after getting home, greeting and playing with them, and then, as we all know, it is Yorkie time again once the "me time" is done. But don't be afraid to stop unwanted behavior. Just first be sure that baby is getting the contact with you, the connection and the interaction that he so craves as a pack animal who longs for companionship and work and involvement - and who's been waiting to see you all day. Working to modify his behavior to learn to listen to and obey you by training him at simple obedience and shape his responses to you to be more appropriate and immediate, will help, too.

| Yes, it is a bit disconcerting to wake up that way, but it IS helpful if I sleep through the alarm.

| Sounds like he wants to spend some "quality time" with mommie all the time you're home - just like mine! If it were up to Tibbe, he and I would just spend all of our time playing and working at his obedience which he loves and out walking and playing with his toys! He so resents this computer! But, though I really do feel guilty for it at time, I do have to correct him and "look" him off sometimes when he gets too antsy and starts physically getting in between me and my screen if I've just got to finish something. Sometimes I'm not really aware he's squirming up in my lap until he's already done it and up pops that head! But then later I do take the time to give him a good old "rough-housing" and we go at it pretty good to work off his pent-up energy and resentment for mommie's "me time". Little Squirts!

| Bailey used to come up to me while I'm at work and just hop up on my lap. Sometimes it's fine, but when I really need to do some work, it's not ok. So I taught him that when he thinks about jumping up and I'm busy, I tell him: "Go lie down". He walks away and finds something else to do. (But he comes back eventually!) |

| I get that from both of my furbabies. They hate it when I am on the laptop and they want my attention. They will walk all over me. |

| I think I have the cleanest nose in Illinois. I also get woke up to licking, bouncing on my boobs and tongue in the nose or sometimes mouth. The husband thinks it is cute to wake me up this way and now Amy cries until he puts her on the bed to wake Mommy up. I actually love it. She is so adorable. |

| I wouldn't dare get on the laptop after being gone for a while! Gracie would be unbearable. I'm sure most dogs would. They need that interaction and some exercise to make up for all the napping they have been doing. Once Gracie has had her walk and some food she is good to settle down and not try to wash my face for me for a while. |

| BAHAHAH My husband goes to bed earlier than Joey and I, and each night I say "get daddy" and he jumps on the bed and sticks his tongue right in his ear. Of course that wakes up hubster and they play for a minute and then we all go to bed.
