my morkie is almost about to pop her due date is january 16. I hope they come sooner but i want them to be healthy so ill wait lol. she is sooo huge i dont think she can get any bigger. Today she has been so distant, i dont whats up with that:confused:...she is pregnant by my yorkie and they both are wonderful dogs i really am soooooo excited and nervous. She does pant randomly its weird she did that in her last pregnancy so i know its not time just have never seen a dog do that. I am new to this site and just wanted to say hey and share Lexis story.

I have a pregnant yorkie due February 6th she is just now starting to get very sleepy and round poor thing waddles.

well you are almost there, she should be uncomfortable, since she is almost due, are you ready for her whelping, my maiden bitch had her first litter last September at exactly 58 days from breeding, she was artificially inseminated and it took fast, thank God I always get ready early, so I will suggest to get your whelping box and all the necessary stuff ready and just relax and wait...

Why would your breed a mutt? Do you know how many there are in shelters?

I just wanna know seriously. Plus maybe it will help some one else not breed theres. Maybe she doesn't know how bad it is and she will learn and not do it again. I get to ask questions like everyone else.

I respect your opinions always, always, always....but I don't see anything wrong here, its been said over and over, your right....however; until it never happens again we should jump at every chance possible to educate on this subject., whether we agree with OP or not, this IS the arena to do so. Wow haha. Yes they are mutts but I know what they are at least. At least they arnt 20 diffrent breeds. Tell other people that story because I'm the least of your worries trust me. I live in Memphis area y'all think y'all have seen bad we have dogs walking in the ghetto pit bulls everywhere pregnant and scares and sad faces they are even dead in the road, and these people will never ever stop that, but I have yet to see a yorkie or morkie or whatever small dog like mine walking down these streets I am your least of worries save your breath and talk to those people I wish I could. But anyways my morkies are gorgeous so I doubt they will end up without a home. But anyways ill keep you all up dated I hope they come soon I'm way over ready I have everything in a box on top of her cage. I'm with her 24/7 so ill forsure be with her when its time I take her to work everywhere we are unseperatable if I decide to leave for a few days to go see my mom I get this emptiness in my heart lol. I will show you pictures when they are born. They look just like full blooded yorkies I guess because the dad is full blooded. My morkies belly has been looking dropped for a few days so i think she's close but she's still a happy girl and she still ha no milk coming from her teats. Ugh I just can't wait lol days are going by so slow but if she has a girl I'm keeping her Idc if I make any money I want to keep them all.but they are a handful anyways ill keep y'all updated..

Congratulations, I hope everything goes well. We call cross breeds mongrels in the UK and I have heard many people over the years say they prefer crosses to pedigrees any day. When i was growing up it was almost unheard of for someone from where i live to have a pedigree pup, but i have still known many, many, cute, funny, sweet, well loved and well cared for "mutts"From what I have read here there are a great many full breed dogs dumped in shelters also so it really comes down to finding the right people to love and care for the wee things no matter what their parentage.

Ok I'll let you guys see them. Her hair does grow soooo fast. I love her coat though her white with her silvered out back.. She is soo precious. And yes I know people send full blooded dogs to the shelter I rarely see these kind of dogs I live in Memphis area and you people think you've seen bad and they keep at it breeding and fighting these pit bulls running around on the streets save your breath because that's what you need to worry about not me I'm the least of your worries breeding my morkie people want these dogs and they don't have 8 to 15 unlike these pitbulls.

I want to clarify I do not hate mixed breed dogs and I do not see the word mutt and a derogatory word. Callie is my first non mutt. We have had many mixes over the years and all where great great dogs. I do not agree with breeding mixes though because there are so very many in shelters and when breeding you should only be breeding to better the breed and sense mixes are not a breed breeding them is not doing anything but creating more of the dogs that already fill our shelters.

since ive been on this forum ive learned great things about yorkies. ive learned all about breeding, pups, health, shampoos, food and so on. but it seems like every time someone says they have a pregnant female or they are planning on breeding the first thing people say is SPAY their baby. im sorry to say this and i dont mean to offend anyone but IF i chose to breed my swayzee and the vet is ok with it this is MY choice to do so. i know their is millions of animals in shelters , i know that dogs are killed very day because of over crowding but i also know that even if i dont breed someone somewhere else is and not to be rude to breeders but how is ur breeding any better then anyone else? can u make sure 100% that non of ur pups will ever end up in a shelter? you cant. Im not trying to start something im just trying to state my opponion. i dont come on as much because it seems someone always has something to say about someone raising their pets. i personailly only hope for the best for everyones babies. pregnant or not. once again if i offend u im sorry im really not trying too!

Vets do not always know what is best for each breed like someone could go in and say can I breed my 4 pound yorkie and they might say yes but the experts in this breed know that is extremely dangerous as well as all the people who have watched it happen. Puppies should not be brought into this world unless the best is done to make sure they are not born with genetic issues and issues like LP where they have to suffer there whole life or have to be put down because of a terrible genetic illness. A good breeder does tests to ensure there puppies have the best start possible and breed to better the breed no to make micro tiny teacups that are extremely sick with eyes bulging out of there head with terrible genetic illness and LP. Good breeders know they are in it to better the breed not just make money off there dogs which most good breeds don't make there money back. Just breeding because someone else some where is going to is wrong period. People who come on here and have bred there dogs and or want to breed there dogs are putting there females life at risk by not knowing what to do and what signs mean they need to be rushed to the vet right away. People think you put a female in heat together with a male and that's it but its so much more then that. Its about making puppies that are healthy and happy and showing care for them. Good breeders try everything they can to ensure that if a pup is no longer wanted by the person that they come back to the breeder even if they are 10 years old. To many people end up breeding and having sick puppies or getting upset because they went ahead and bred there 4 pound dog and it had to have a c-section and wont accept the puppy now and they don't want to take care of the pup even though they are the reason it is here. If you love animals and really care about there well being you would not just slap two dogs together. This post though was about breeding a mixes which is bad because there are so many mixes in the shelters and breeding should only be done to better the breed not make more dogs like are already in shelter. If you really really love and care about dogs you would not want more puppies born with illness that suffer in terrible pain.

People want these dogs meaning you are selling them?

Ok so what is being said is if your a full blooded dog they never will get put in a animal shelter haha. My labador is from a shelter so WRONG... It doesn't matter what breed they are mixed with its these stupid people that get these dogs and decide they don't want them it's not cuz of their breed. I paid 300 for my morkie I'd like to see you get one for free or cheap they arnt worthless just because people are obsessed with haven full blooded dogs don't mean everyone is like you because I'm not. Yorkies morkies Corkies whatever cross breed they are most likely always wanted. I'm pretty sure if I was to ask someone is they wanted my morkie they would take her in a heartbeat. People will fight over my puppies so idk where ur from. I'm so blessed to have my morkie( MY MUTT) that are so called in shelters.

People exactly like you are the reason there are to many dogs every where. A dog can be beautiful and still end up in a shelter. Please please please go to a few of your local shelters and look around. Breeding should be done only to better the breed. This is so sad to me. Do you do genetic testing at least?

To the OP, if you need more breeding advise, just go to the Breeders section, this tread has gone way off topic and I don't want to come and see people arguing and beating a dead horse, that is what the breeders section is for..

No there are full breed dogs in shelters to and you can bet that you will not find a good breeders dog in a shelter because good breeders will not sell to just any one and will take the dogs back if they become unwanted. You are so wrong and I hope you figure it out one day.......... Just in this to make money off of "designer dogs" terrible.

and you think u know whats best? you dont know my swayzee and u dont know whats best. i understand where u are coming from but you do not know my baby or her morkie. people are gonna breed maybe instead of always saying "dpnt breed get her spayed" for once be nice and help her maybe she will realize breeding is not for her. im done.

You guys are taken this over board get a life go groom ur dog or something do something worth your time instead of talking trash that people arnt going to listen to cuz guess what I'm going to keep breeding and ill have a yard full of them hahahaha nothing you can do and Idc what u have to say.

Ok you want to breed make sure to do genetic testing on the male and female you are breeding, make sure you male and female are excellent examples of the breed, make sure that you know the lines they come from so you can be sure there is no LP in those lines, make sure both dogs get a good check up from a vet, make sure you have a mentor to be there when the dog whelps, make sure you have the money to pay for a c-section if necessary, don't breed a female in her first eat, make sure the female is over 5 pounds, make sure your mentor helps you make a list of all supply's necessary, read a few books to help your knowledge of breeding, make sure you are prepared not to make money on these pups because you might nor even break even, make sure you keep the pups with the mom until 12 weeks and make sure you are able to be with the dog all the time when she is getting close to whelping. If you do all these plus some things I missed go right ahead and breed. If you doing it right I have no problem with you breeding unless of course you are breeding mixes. The only reason to breed is to better the breed. I will never go ok every body if you wanna breed go ahead and do it because its not that easy and just jumping in not knowing what your doing can put your female at risk and her puppies.

Trying to educate people about breeding will always be part of my life and I will never stop. I just wish you cared about the dogs but it shows your don't. You can have a yard full of dogs all you want but each one will not get individual attention and more then likely if there are so many not a good food and good grooming or even vet care.

I am sorry if I got a little rough on this thread but it really burns me the wrong way when people are not breeding for the right reasons and not caring to make sure there puppies have the best start. I am having a rough time with life right now and may have slightly taken it out on this thread. My dog is a product of non caring breeders and there are things I have had to watch her go through that it hurts me that if she was better breed she would not have had these problems and I don't want to see other pups out there suffering from the same things.
