| Ldyrev1, I live in Decatur. PM me and maybe together we can come up with something we can do about this person. I also know a breeder that has females she adopts after they are spayed. I also know of a rescue group around Chicago that may have some Yorkies.

| Hi! I would first like to express my condolences for the loss of Gretel. It is so hard to lose one. Next, I would like to say that it is wonderful you were willing to help Sophie, and I am sorry that worked out the way it did. With authorities involved, things may still change. Regardless, you are fantastic in my book for helping, and being willing to offer whatever needed care in return for the love you will receive from your next Yorkie baby. Welcome! The world needs more just like you.

| Thank you all for your concerns expressed about the breeder I was working with. I am confident that our local Animal Control Officers will be checking out her home and the arrangements she has for her dogs and will be correcting the situation but I will also be checking to make sure something is done! On a much happier note...I am happy to share with you all that we have located a beautiful 4 week old female Yorkie located just over an hours drive from where we live. We took some time this evening and went to "visit". We will be coming home with OUR Sophie in early February. Yes this is a quick move but I have been searching online since Gretel passed away. I knew I would need to fill up a sore spot in my heart. Our Sophie will not have papers, which is totally fine with us! We got to meet the parents and are satisfied they are getting good care and her other dogs are as well. Absolutely no smell inside the house (very good sign) and where she keeps the puppies (in a pen) is clean and everything we saw told us this was a good match, this puppy and us. We left a small deposit to secure our Sophie and feel very good about this transaction. Wish us well, I will post an update when we bring our little Sophie home. Thanks to everyone!! |

| Welcome. I always believe things happen for a reason. I don't know your reason, but perhaps you were destined for a few things. 1. To report these people for their poor living conditions and treatment of the dogs. 2. To get a feel for Yorkies to let you know if this is the type of dog you want. If you decide on a Yorkie, take a look at all options. Check Craigslist. Talk to your local dog shelter. Ask around like you're doing here. Talk to neighbors. Good things are sure to come your way. |

| ♥Love My 3 Furrbutts♥ Donating Member | Congratulations on your Sophie! You said she is 4 weeks and and is coming home in early February? If my math is correct. that puts her at 8wks? It is better for the pup to stay with their momma and litter mates until 12wks...momma teaches her pups much during the 8-12wk period...

| We have agreed to take her home at 8 weeks IF she is ready, we are willing to wait longer if it would be better for her. I will be talking to our vet tomorrow to get her recommendation. As for the breeder, I hope she gets what she deserves. Note: we had done much research on Yorkies before we adopted Gretel and then Hansel and we know their breeders personally which is why we decided to go with schnauzers but we have always wanted a yorkie and this experience did affirm for us that a yorkie is just what we want and need. |

| I got Macy from someone about an hour north of you. Wonder if it's the same person? I am going to send you a private message. Maybe we can try to get together sometime this summer for a playdate. Forgot to welcome you to Yorkie Talk. Hope the person in Clinton gets what she deserves.

| I would love to get together for a play date. We actually found our Yorkie about one hour South of where we live. |

| First let me say from one Sophie Yorkie owner to another CONGRATS!!! I am so sorry you had such a bad experience with your first Sophie, how unfair for you and your husband and most importantly Sophie. I totally understand the wanting to avoid the backlash of a small town (been there done that). Personally I was really shocked when you mentioned she showed up at your door!!! One suggestion I might make is keeping in contact with the first Sophie's owner. When I say "keeping in contact" I do not mean condoning her breeding practices at all but you seem like a well educated person who fully understands the proper care and love for a dog. Perhaps you can teach her some things, talk her out of breeding and loving her pets for exactly that pets. I volunteer at a local rescue every weekend and I always have to remind myself that not everyone was raised with the same values on pets life as I have. Remember in the day when people would chain their dog in the backyard all day with a bowl or water and a shabby old dog house, well it is now 2013 and we know more. Maybe being in contact with her and showing her how you treat your dogs she will learn from example. Good luck with your new Sophie, I cannot wait to see pictures.
