| yorkie and clothes... How often does your yorkie wear clothes.....??? I am a bit confused on the clothes thing for dogs.... although last year I did have to get our mini schnauzer a hoodie since it was cold when we got him and he was puppy.... and he got a haircut before picking him up.... this year, he is sporting a puppy coat hairdo and we did pick up a new hoodie since last years didn't fit anymore, but has far has everyday clothes, he does not wear them... so this yorkie thing and clothes, me needs some help on....

| LOL ... well it's up to you and your dog! Jackson does not mind clothes, but I don't really dress him up unless it's holiday or weather-related. On a rare occasion, I'll maybe put a shirt on him or whatever, but typically he's neekeed! hehe. I put a coat or sweater on him usually if it's below about 40 degrees F, but it also just depends. Yesterday it said it was 45 but it was pretty windy and I was freezing so I put a coat on him for our walk. Most of the time, I don't even think he really needs it, he seems to do fine, but I like the comfort of knowing he's warm. Some dogs will get colder than others, etc.

| Yorkies don't have under coats so they get colder more easily then other dogs. Mine even at 16 pounds gets really cold very fast so she pretty much has clothes on all the time unless outside in the summer. Callie loves her clothes and will put her own head through the head hole as well as her arms through each arm hole. I am pretty picky when it comes to clothes though wont do Velcro unless its for a costume for the most part, I make sure there is no buttons or snaps on the sides or neck/chest area and I don't do hoods I think they are useless at least for all the dogs I have seen with one of them and it seems like a choking hazard. Callie if she gets cold shuts down and gets kinda grumpy and she has been known to shake when she gets way to cold.

| Well, I buy Mandie clothes and then I take her picture in them and then that's about it. LOL No, really, she is my tomboy and hates me trying to give her a topknot/ponytail or even a barrett. She does pretty good in little tshirts but she would just as soon not wear anything. The only time I really "make" her wear something is like the others have said..when it gets pretty cold. I'll put on her sweatshirt and I just got her some jammies for when winter really hits (if that's what you can call it in Alabama).

YT 2000 Club Member | Well as you can see by my profile picture, my Teeka wears clothes most of the time. She seems to be cold and shivers on cool days. She has every thing including dresses, t-shirts, pjs, coats, sweaters, outfits with legs and a hoodie! She is very spoiled with lots of clothes!

| If the yorkie gets cold and you put on a sweater or heavy tshirt, doesn't their back legs still get cold....???? I can understand the pj part, cause then most of the body is covered, but the shirt thing....

| Clothes does have its uses. It's not all for looks. Ahi wears clothes when we go out or if it gets cold in the house. Which is almost never cause we live in Hawaii. lol But she likes it either way. If i'm grabbing her dress/shirt/jacket she runs on over and turns around so I can put it on her because it means that we are going out. Otherwise indoors she is always Nakey. Oh and the matching bows are a must! lol

| So in the winter, if doggie stays inside, it might not need clothes, except of course when we go outside, and perhaps some pj's to sleep in... but of course, one must have a different bow for every day! And if it is inside and it gets a bit chilly, perhaps just a light fabric shirt should do??

| I never even thought about buying clothing for a dog until Gracie came along. She gets cold very easily. When she was a puppy and could not find a lap to sit in she would lay with one of the cats and wrap herself around it to get body heat. I had to get her some winter coats for outside wear and some sweater dresses to wear inside. She has long hair but the lack of under coat seems to leave her at a loss for insulation. She prefers the sweater dresses because they are loose fitting and I assume more comfortable. She also has socks for when the floors get drafty in the coldest part of winter. Some Yorkies seem to have better heating systems than Gracie's and don't seem to get cold as easily. I suppose it is up to you and the comfort level of your pet. |

| Amazon.com: Zack & Zoey Acrylic Fair Isle Dog... Instead of being tight it hangs like a dress on the body and the hind quarters. |

Ok, to the OP, I suppose I am swayed by the cuteness of the clothes, too. LOL (but it IS still utilitarian )
