Newbie question... Bringing home new dog I have the chance to get a 7 month female to go with my a little older male that is used to being an only dog, I was told I should let them meet outside the home then let her go in to the house first while I either take him for a walk or a ride then bring him inside or else he would get mad because it is his home. Is that true or is there something else special I should do? Thank you in advance.

I had a little better luck after I gave them both a bath, and our little Abby would only eat Ziva's food so that helped them smell alike, too. I fed them separately on the advise of our vet (still do) It did take a month, almost to the day, for her to be accepted!

Well see I am only rescuing this little girl if mine approves of her when the owner brings her over to meet because I really am not excited about the fact she has ACA papers.

When ever I have a brought a new one in that I have adopted, I always gave the new one a bath in the same shampoo the others use, that way they all smell the same. I have always just brought the new dog in the house. I have never had a problem at all. But most people do introduce a new dog on neutral ground.

I did not meet the breeder nor breeding conditions and I know ACA does not have the strict rules with family tree and genetics so due to this family does not really want to sale the puppy but know I would be able to give it more attention than they can they will sale to me. But I just want to take precautions about what type of long term health the puppy might have.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | That is what happens when you rescue you never know what you get. But i would never change a thing with any of my rescues. I love them just thevway they are. Well just make us you get all the vet info you can. And then take her to the vet to get a check up.
