Hello (last time I bug you all today I promise!)

We recently carpeted our stairs to make it safer for both our pets and humans. I would install doggy gates until you can carpet your stairs

Welcome to YT!! There are no nuisances here....we are all here to help you with whatever it is you need help with. ....personally I wouldn't have a pup going up and down uncarpeted stairs, I would carry him or put up baby gates as others have already suggested. Again welcome.

ps i just noticed your post said "uncarpeted staircase" . i really would not be comfortable with that personally.

I'm carrying him... Thanks for taking the time to respond. He does go up and down the outside cement stairs (about 5), is that ok?

How about the 5 stairs (cement ones) outside? I don't always catch that quick little rat as he follows my 16 pound shih tsu mix up them. Is that a big no-no as well?

yes, i think that will ok.. The cement has a little traction and it will give him some practice doing stairs... just watch him to make sure he doesn't fall down..
He is lucky to have such an attentive mommy..

Thank you!!!! <3 I feel like he's not had a lot of the kind of attention he needs to flourish and be harmonious within himself and other dogs as well as people. With training and boundaries he'll become the best little terrier ever... This is my goal. Ok, so I will not worry so much about the 5 stairs outside... We'll see if I can't organize a way to stop that as well. Right now my goal is to have him meld into our family and feel comfortable here. By Thursday the training will begin. He's been a family member since Saturday...so I feel that's enough time to get into the routine I have had for my Shih tsu mix for 9 years (she's a senior lol). I'm all about routine...it's a dogs saving grace in a hectic world lmaoooo
