I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | That sounds like a fairly healthy recipe; you could make it a little healthier by grinding up the egg shells in a small food processor of spice mill and adding them to the mix. Dogs need lots of calcium and this would add calcium. Don’t know how many treats you get from this recipe, but if it makes 24, each treat would be 64 calories, and that’s a fairly large amount of calories for a 5 pound dog that only needs around 200 calories a day. The total recipe contains 1539 calories. This site Calorie Count :: New Recipe has a great calorie and nutritional counter. Of course, the nutritional information is based on human needs, but you can still get some good information for analyzing recipes meant for dogs. By the way, I love the way they look, great for a dog party! The picture below shows the analysis of ingredients taken form the website I linked.

I was thinking about making something like that but adding apples and also oatmeal instead of flour. do you think oatmeal would be OK

| The health and diet area of YT has a sticky with a lot of homemade treat recipes. I like to dehydrate sweet potato and chicken for Gracie. She won't eat grains. At least when you make your treats at home you know what you are giving your dog. I won't buy any of the treats sold in department stores or pet stores. |

| The last time I made dog biscuits was for our GE buddy. These were the ones I made and all the ingredients are gluten-free, just in case. Thanks for recipe! Perfect timing for Thanksgiving, the girls are going to love it I'm sure |
