| ![]() I did buy Newman's organic dog food without wheat. I will try that. I also give him Yummy Chummy wild salmon treats. Anyone have experience with these products? |

| ![]() He has very short hair, a "puppy cut." He and his brother are inseparable and his brother does not scratch. Is the flea comb beneficial with super short hair? |

| ![]() My mini schnauzer is aleaus in a schnaizer show cut. Shave on top. While flwa combs are effective, it only takes one stray flea to jump on jer, bite her or poop and despite frontline plus killing a flea we may usually never see...she'll begin chewing and scratching herself to the point of aorea hair loss...seceral fleas and she's got 'hot spots' look like open gapibg wounds from an impalment. Allergy testing or a skin scraping at the vets is the first step to finding the cause and then the cure.

| ![]() Shanti did this and vet knew immediately from rust colored hair in those areas. It was allergies. I agree with taking to vet.

| ![]() I had a dog with a flea allergy and it is true that only one flea walking across the body can send the dog into an itching fit. Not all dogs are that sensitive but the ones who are allergic just become miserable with itching as the allergy just gets worse. The itching is caused by the flea it's self and not just bites. A steroid shot would help my fella but I had to get rid of all fleas, inside and out, to make him better. I have never used Newman's food. I did look at it on their site. Organic is always a step above normal dog food. I couldn't find much info on their meats except it did say the chicken was not injected with hormones, steroids or antibiotics. It said they were on an all vegetable diet. Not sure what that means. It certainly will be an improvement over regular dog food. Did you buy the dry or canned for him? You might also try using an organic or all natural shampoo and conditioner when you bathe him. Some dogs are just hypersensitive so covering all your bases will help eliminate allergens. |

| ![]() My boy used to itch constantly, and chew his skin till you could see blood deposits under the skin. It's now all solved and he never does it. I found it was allergies, and I have found one food that doesn't cause it, so I'm super strict with his diet. He gets that one food, and pretty much nothing else. he's like a different dog. |

| ![]() I took Beau to the vet today. He checked him and did a biopsy on the affected area. He said that his besy guess would be that Beau is allergic to fleas. He said that Beau does not have fleas but it was possible that one got on him and bit him. He gave him a steroid injection and an antibiotic injection (there were signs of a staph infection.) and predicted that Beau will be much better by tomorrow. I did start the coconut oil both internally and externally. The vet advised me to keep doing that. Thanks to everyone who offered their advice. You were very helpful. |

| ![]() I hope it heals quickly. I know for us fleas have been so bad for Princess she can't even go to the dog park anymore. If she does go out she's bathed immediately upon arrival home. I use DE (organic food grade only) on the fence line because the neighbors have dogs. Its an ongoing battle.

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() HI! I am glad Beau is better. For some reason I think mint keeps fleas away. I have mint growing in my yard and have not had a flea problem. You may want to try this. Keep a flea comb handy for Beau. I hope he stays flea free. I do not take my dogs to the park. Way too many things to happen there. Mainly getting attacked by other dogs. We have had that happen here. Then the bugs they pick up. I love his name! I had a dog named Beau Jo. Love that name! I bet your dog is beautiful and lives up to that name! |
