| ![]() Hello! My name is Travis and I am 21. I have a pomeranian that is about 1 year 4 months. I am making this post because I bought a little Yorkie male. I bought him from a breeder. He is not old enough to be seperated from his mom just yet so i will be picking him up on the 19th! 10 days! So excited to go pick him up! I have always wanted to get a yorkie and my pomeranian needs a friend so i am really hoping they get along. My pomeranian is very friendly so i am sure they will. If anyone has any tips for me on training or the best type of dog food for yorkies or typical yorkie behavior etc...I would love to hear it!! Im just trying to learn and prepare for this new puppy because i want to take good care of him ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() Welcome! You'll find a wide variety of opinions on what the "best" food is. Yorkies are prone to digestive issues so that is definitely something to keep in mind when selecting a food. As for what is typical for a yorkie? They will steal your heart and make you laugh. They love to be with you. As for another tip, I'd suggest visiting the grooming area of the forum...yorkies need daily grooming. I use a Madan pin brush on mine and a small 4" safari comb. Also, your yorkie should be walked only on a harness. I use the Choke-Free brand and love it, but many people also like buddy belts. My dogs wear a thin neck collar with ID tags but never walked on a collar. They also are microchipped, so if your breeder hasn't done this, you could have it done when the pup is neutered (and most vets will do this at about 6 months old so any retained baby teeth can also be removed). I wish you great luck and happiness with your new yorkie!

| ![]() Congrats on your addition to your family! Welcome to YT! I'm not sure what is best on the food, but a lot of people suggested grain free when I first got Mandie so that's what I went with. I give her Blue Buffalo (different flavors). She loves it. I've only had Mandie for a couple of months so I'm no expert on advice..just wanted to welcome you and say hi. Post lots of pics of your little one when he comes home!! ![]() ![]()

| ![]() Welcome to YorkieTalk!! Congratulations on your soon-to-be new addition ![]() As for food, I would recommend a grain free kibble. There are a lot of different opinions on here, but I'm sure you will do what's best for your pup. What do you currently feed your pom?

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | ![]() Hello and Welcome to YT. There is a bunch of wonderful people with a ton of knowledge. Look through the archives. It helps a lot. Also if you decide to change foods wait a few weeks for the pup to get adjusted to your home. Too much change is not good. If you do not already know when you do change the food make sure you change it slowly. and I usually add a little pumpkin in it to help with fiber during the change. Good luck. I am glad you joined us and please make sure you post your new pup and your Pom's pics. We love to see them |

| ![]() Thank you all for the warm welcome!! I will post some pics of my Pom just as soon as i figure out how! haha still learning how to get around. To "CouversMom" I fed my pom Purina puppy food and just switched about 4 months ago when she turned 1, to Purina little bites. Nala (the Pom) likes it and it has alot of protein and nutrients in it. |
