I'm not sure what is best on the food, but a lot of people suggested grain free when I first got Mandie so that's what I went with. I give her Blue Buffalo (different flavors). She loves it.
I've only had Mandie for a couple of months so I'm no expert on advice..just wanted to welcome you and say hi. Post lots of pics of your little one when he comes home!!
Some of your pom, too. My last dog (my heart and soul) was a pom. Love poms! Yorkies have a bit more attitude, I'm finding out. You'll love him!
