| Experience with CDS? It's been a few weeks since I've been here but that's because we've had our hands full with Bogey, the senior Yorkie that we adopted 9/30. Long story short, the vet thinks he has CDS or dementia. Also that he's older than we thought, don't know for sure since he went to the humane society as a stray. Does anyone here have any experience with this? |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My senior rescue yorkie had it. He was estimated to be around 19 years old. Sadly he went into kidney failure a few months ago and I had to make that hard decision. I had him 2 1/2 years and he slowly declined. He went blind and deaf but still loved to eat. He was able to get around pretty good until the last month. With the CDS I would find him wandering lost during the night, he would stand behind the couch and just stare. It's very hard to see them failing but I don't think Nikki suffered. They do have medicine that can be very effective in some dogs. I think its spelled anipyril. Hopefully your vet can help you decide if this will help him. Good luck and keep us posted.

| Thank you Patti. Yes, the vet has suggested Anipryl. I'm just wondering if I should try it or just observe him for awhile? I'm sorry that you lost your baby . |

| Yes I have experienced this with an older one that I adopted years ago. Jazz was at least 13 when I adopted her. We started her on the medication called Anipryl. While it didn't completely resolve all her issues with CDS it did help her some. Sadly I lost her after only having her 10 months, she was in such horrible shape when we adopted her.
