Those kids sound like bullies! I bet they exhibit the same behavior at school! I personally would report the situation to the police. Talking to the parents was no help, and you should be able to live in your place without being under seige! Tough love is what those kids need!

Once a dog has been traumatized and learns to be defensive and aggressive towards kids, it is hard to undo it. My Yorkie has one very bad incident with kids when he was under one year old but that was all it took

. He still isn't friendly with kids and he is 6 yrs old now. As someone suggested earlier, be there with them outside and if you can't, bring them in even the male Yorkie. He can still have fun indoor with some game time. Try treasure hunting games such as hiding treats in blanket, under the bed etc just an idea.

Problem solved......but you must NEVER leave your babies out there unsupervised/unattended....these thugs and their uncivilized parents will definately do harm if given a chance. This event was the lesson that taught me to NEVER leave my babies outside, unattended, for their own safety. They are not only in danger from rogue humans, animal/bird predators are a clear and present danger.

That is awesome!

I definitely agree about video taping the incidents. Also video tape them in the backyard when they're not barking to show that it is the kids.

Also, do not let the kids know that you're videotaping otherwise they'll run to their parents and make something up.

Document it every time and call the office EVERY TIME it happens! Otherwise the complaints will pile up on you and not them and it'll be you that will be forced to leave.

yorkiemon1 you are my hero!!! I can soo see myself doing what you did!!

I would also complain to the office everyday / everytime the brats tease the dogs. I would never let them out without being in the yard with them.

i have a story to tell and even though this was a big dog it still happens, we had a about 7 big dogs and my mother actually paid pretty big money to get her house fenced all the way around. now we lived in dallas texas at the time and on a cornor where the high school kids and middle school kids where picked up but the buses. well they all started teasing our dogs throwing things and picking on them now we tried calling the cops talking to parents and the school and no one cared they all blamed our animals well one week my mother had enough we got video cameras and placed them all around the house. well one morning for some reason one of our k9 was the only one outside and all the dogs inside where going nuts at the windows we looked outside and 3 men had grabbed our k9 and basically beat him to death we only had a few minutes with him before he died. honestly all i can say is watch them babies. please dont let nothing like that happen to them. it took the death of my beloved dog for the schools to move the bus spots over a few streets down. i hope for the best and i hope them kids learn not to tease your babies

I've been a cafe manager at an Elem school for 10 + years. Yes kids r brats, disrespectful, do not listen, but i have found, not for all of them, but most, when u speak and approach them in a more positive way, the outcome is better. Since talking to the parents didn't help, how about talking to the kids and explaining how their behavior is tormenting your dog. If this has already been tried i apologize, then I say break out the water hose and let them have it.

How AWFUL! They were men and not students? Were you able to turn in the video to the police? I hope they were slammed hard in prison!

it was a dad and uncle and the son. the officers said it would take forever to get jistice so we tried and never heard anymore about it. my mother was so heartbroken after all he was her baby jack. we even got a painting made in his honor. we still have his tags and all. he was only a year old. its been 6 years since that happened. i just hope these kids wont do the same or anything like it. i never leave my fur baby outside alone. ever.

My God; that is absolutely horrific. I'm so sorry that happened to your mother's precious dog and to your family. My heart breaks for you. Things like this make me feel embarrassed to be human.

Though it's unpleasant, at least birds of prey have a reason to kill. The fact, that 3 humans would bond together and destroy an innocent animal in such a brutal way, and for no reason except for spite or sport really is
shocking. Your story deeply affected me. I don't now, but I will for sure will NEVER let my precious Baci out alone.

I dont understand how any parent wouldnt find this a great opportunity to teach compassion, respect and boundaries thereby fixing the whole thing with an apology, it wont happen again and understanding what they are doing to another living thing. At least take the time to educate them on the fact that barking and lunging isnt play. They may think this is good clean screeching doggy fun.

some of the situations others have posted about are sort of a double edge sword because I am not always in agreement with having dogs unattended while outside no matter the size because often their natural instincts will cause people not to like them. Unless you have a 7 or 8 foot wall type fence around your property line IMHO you should not have a chain link type fence or an invisable fence butt up to the sidewalk or street, if so you are inviting trouble.

There is not one dog in my neighborhood that when I walk by with Lola that does not cause a barking fit before we approach and long after we pass. Many of these dogs react the same even if I am without a dog. They come charging at the fence, some up on their hind legs barking like they are ready to attack, I hate it and even avoid certain streets but can not avoid them all. While it annoys me when I walk by I can't imagine what it would be like living next to these people because there are lots of walkers all the time so the barking is frequent. There is a basset and a Boviare (sp) that are about 8 houses away they practically live outside and bark at everything that walks by and I can hear them at my house so I bet the neighbors are not to happy with these dogs, one told me she can't wait for them to die! A few doors from them lives a lab and a min pin with an invisible fence that I swear runs a little past their property line into the street. Sometimes when walking by they are in the back or the garage which is left half open, but they sense us there and bam out they come charging and barking like on attack, even though I know they live there it still scares the crap out of me. Many people hate those dogs, I have told the owner that he should do something like move the fence way back because a lot of people don't like his dogs and someone might be mean enough to poison them, but he seems to think it is funny scaring people. I live next to someone that has a mid size black dog, I have talked to the dog given it treats, but even if it me alone on her side of my yard she runs up and down barking and growling her head off, the owners are nice people and try to get her to stop and then bring her in, but it still sometimes scares me and quite frankly because of that I don't like that dog and am always afraid for Lola so she is never on that side of the yard without a leash. I am a dog lover but there are still dogs I don't like, I would never do anything to harm them, but not everyone is dog lover and frankly should not have to put up with walking past houses with dogs charging at them, even if behind fences.

Many years ago had a similar problem - backyard, kids after school and weekends teasing and threatening my dog. Invited a friend to bring his 150 lb mastiff over a few days when school bus came -little did the kids know the mastiff was a darling, but looked menacing, but it had a huge bark and out weighted every one. Could stand up taller than the fence or the kids. Didnt bark much. Only took a couple times and the kids changed their route home.

I don't know about the noise laws in your area, but in my area there are certain reasons as to why a dog is allowed to excessively bark. One of those reasons is if a stranger or someone who is teasing your animal has approached the fence line and won't leave.

If the same is true in your area then I would reccomend recording the children harrassing your dogs in case the situation progresses any further for evidence. I would also take some videos thought the day just to show your dogs aren't noise in general.

We recently moved to a neighborhood that we thought was dog friendly (because everyone had a dog) ... But the second we moved in we got noise complaints ... And it wasn't even our dog! If it was our dog it was only when someone approached our fence line (which is a lawful reason in my area for a dog to bark).

I hope you're able to come up with a solution! I understand the need for peace and quiet in a neighborhood .... But this is clearly not your fault!
