Just checking back in. I wrote a "not so nice" comment on their FB page and I am going to post the same thing to the rest of their pages everywhere I can find them. They have not replied to my post yeat, but I hope that more YTers will post as well.I get off work at noon today and when I go home I'll be posting in more places. Let's keep hoping & praying. |
I am so worried for Benji and your family. I pray you find him soon and all is well. |

I do not have a Facebook account, and can't post messages (or can I?). But what a great idea! Please keep the pressure on this hotel! I so hope you do get Bengi back. |
Just remembered: Reviews of Hotels, Flights and Vacation Rentals - TripAdvisor ! I (we) could leave a comment on tripadvisor. But it is important to get the correct hotel details. Could you advise, please? |

The hotel replied to my FB post, but I am not impressed. OP, when was the last time they contacted you just to once again apologize or to let you know how things are going and what they are doing to try to find your baby? I would hate to think that the only time you speak with someone from that hotel is if you are contacting them! Still   behind his mess!!!! |
I haven't read through all of the postings, but have you looked at this website: Home | Missing Pet Partnership They have alot of great tips on how to find lost pets, and provide a listing of places to post lost dog notices. They also offer phone consultations. I've passed the information along to the hotel via their FB page, hopefully they will contact them. |
I just sent an email to the local news channel to see if they are interested in sharing my story. Let's see what happens with that. Last nite I received an email from security; he's been working with the sheriff's department; unfortunatelly the department doesn't have sniff dogs. But they are still trying to be able to see the security cameras footage. He's gonna call me today... |

Last night there was a new yorkie added to the Orange County Animal Services... it looked a little bit like him, he would look like that if he was tired, and sad, and dirty... but I called and it wasn't him cause that little guy wasn't neutered :( Animal Services NetPets We cried... we wanted it to be Bengi so bad :cry8: |
I hope the person who carelessly opened that bathroom door while leaving the outside door opened lost their job. There is no excuse for ignoring your sign. If you wanted your bathroom cleaned you wouldn't have put that sign on the door. I just hope he is with someone rather than wandering around outside. It's a shame the person who saw him at the other hotel didn't grab him when they saw him. I feel so bad for you and your family. |
I posted on the Clarion facebook page: Here is what I posted and their response~~ Quote:

I've been following this thread for days and it blows my mind that this could happen, and yet I still don't really understand the chain of events that could ALLOW it. I've Liked and Shared the facebook page, and I'm ready to comment on the hotel pages. I agree with applying pressure to the hotel (chain) to get to the bottom of it. The more time that passes, the colder the trail. If there is video, surely that will reveal something. I guess we need to take nanny cams on trips with us in the future (... and big bear traps set at the door entrance). My heart goes out to you and your family, and I'm sure Benji is missing his family, too. I pray every day that your little guy will be returned safely to you. |
Do you remember if the bathroom door opened into the main room or into the bathroom? Could Bengi have pushed the door open, if in fact it opened into the main room itself? |
I have been following this thread, too, and I am incensed with the obvious lack of caring that the management of the hotel has expressed. I also posted my opinion on their fb page and let it fly! This incident really has opened my eyes that you really cannot trust ANYONE with your kids ( fur or otherwise!) like you can. Never take for granted that your pet will be safe in it's room if you're travelling. If I ever have to take my boys with me somewhere, I'll have a kennel large enough for both of them and will have it padlocked and chained to the furniture, lol! To the OP--my thoughts and prayers are with you, and Benji, and will do everything I can to help get him back home to you and your family! |
Animal Services NetPets I just found this. His hair looks shorter but you never know he could have been clipped. |

This was Clarion's response to our FB posts: To Friends of Benji, I understand this is a very sentisive matter and there is nothing we would like more than to have Benji with his family right now. I can assure we are doing all we can to make this happen. We have conducted serveral searches on foot and by car. Have contact all local agencies and businesses in the Palm Parkway area and continue to send them updates and reminders to be on the lookout for Benji. We have filed police reports with the Orange County Sherriff's office and met with them again last night. Daily, we have contacted the local pet shelters to see if any new animals matching Benji's description have been found. As far as a staff member having Benji I do not believe this to be the case. Benji ran from the property and was pursued by several staff members until he ran into a heavily wooded area off Hotel property. I agree that charging for the pet fee was insentitive and was a complete oversight and human error on our part. This has been rectified and all hotel charges have been refunded to Benji's family. The Clarion has been a pet friendly hotel for over 25 years without prior incident. Although, I realize this not help nor comfort Benji's family I do want you to know we take our Pet Friendly status very seriously. Thank you all for your comments and concerns. |

I am still waiting to hear back from Choice, I emailed their public relations department also. |
Has anyone been searching in that "heavily wooded area"? I have a friend who's dog got out and was missing for a couple days and he was found in a nearby wooded area. He was terrified and afraid to come out. Someone reported seeing a dog fitting his description , so we got a group together and searched it, calling for him and finally found him, crouched and scared. Maybe Benji is still there. Can area YTrs search that area? Why did Clarion only chase until the "heavily wooded area"? Why did they stop there? |

Until they do that I'm mad. This could have happened to anyone of us. When an elderly neighbor was inable to catch her dog who ran out her door we all put signs up for her (she couldn't walk to all the streets) she was as so many are on a fixed income and we all put in $25 towards a reward or impound fee. IT WAS THE LEAST NEIGHBORS COULD DO FOR EACHOTHER! Considering the situation Clarion a major corporation could do the same! Our neighbors dog was found being fostered safe a few blocks away, the lady refused the reward and walked the dog home just wanting to see the reunion. |
