Haha! Try walking four at one time and they all stop in a different place! Took us forever to get up the road...lol... Now we walk for a bit, I holler 'Pee Break' they do a group Pee, then a bit further and I holler 'Sniff Break' and they all take a group Sniff. Then they have a 'Group Poop'!

| KJC: I just don't know how you guys with multiple yorkies do it. I guess you have to carry a lot of poop bags with you!! Jeesh, I would be worn out trying to keep up with all of them. It also must be hard not to have a favorite doggie baby. If I had more than one dog, I know I would love Beanie more because she is so sweet. The good thing about Beanie not just zooooomming all the time, is that my body is getting a break from the constant pounding of my feet on cement. I am pretty fit for an older chick, but the every day 60 - 90 total walking was taking a toll on my legs and back. Especially since a portion of that time was actual running with her. So, I am turning the sniffing, sniffing, sniffing and not walking, walking, walking into a positive in that it is helping my body recover. She seems to do the most sniffing in the a.m., so I just let her go ahead and do it and then we sit on the bench in the sun (have to get our Vitamin D from the sun) and look at all the cars and people for awhile. She is a bit better on the lunch time walk. The after work walk is the best because she has a lot of pent up energy, so she is more receptive to walking more and sniffing less. I have learned with this dog that every time I think she is settling into being a certain way, nope - she decides to do something totally different. So, who knows, next week she may decide to go back to zooming!! |

I have followed you on your journey of Yorkie ownership from the start... and I must say you've had quite the adventure! She really keeps you on your toes! One bit of advice: Remember you're the boss! You can set the pace on walks, you decide when to stop... etc. Reinforce your position by basic training... anything that requires her to do what you want, when you want it. You initiate playtime, you stop playtime. Feed her after you eat (leaders eat first). Hope this helps... And, fyi... we're the same age!

And yes, I realize I am the boss, I actually am very good at that. I am just trying to find the balance between being the boss and letting her be a dog. It seems, like I said that the a.m. walk is the sniff walk, the afternoon walk is the more of a walk and the night walk is the zoom walk. And thank you for following my progress with this little being and offering advice. She is my little lovie!! | |

| Buster checks everything out as well. I just feel he is catching up on his pee mail in the neighborhood thread. I figure that the walk is for Buster and what fun is it to just walk by everything. It would be like me going to a mall and only being able to look at the windows and not go in...not very stimulating. I do try to make some of the walk a steady pace to help burn off his energy. I have started using the term giddy up to get him going but we usually screech to a halt at the next interesting smell. LOL
