I'm a kitchen manager at an Elem school. Today during breakfast, a first grader came through the line with a sad look on his face, i said Philip what's wrong, why are you so sad, he pulled it of his pocket .07. , he says this is all i have for the book fair,omg that just broke my heart. I said what book do you want? He said diary of a wimpy kid. I said does it matter which one? He said no any of them. I told him go sit down I'll be right back. The book was 7.00 that was the best money i gaffer EVER spent. Taught me a lesson today, probably a little to late, my kids do not go without anything. Nice clothes, phones, computers, etc.these kids that have nothing appreciate everything. Ok im done, thanks for listening..

From one mom of a teen boy to another, I feel your pain. My son is now 19 and the past 5 years have been TUFF. Anger for no reason,defiant just cause he could. One of 3 sons and the only one to not get his Eagle in Scouts,just because he suddenly decided that he didnt wanna. If I said yes,he said no. If I said up ,he said down. BUT I survived and so did he (although there were days I was pretty sure that there would be a funeral for someone). He graduated,got a job and turned into a human being. If I had to do it again I would of found a carpenter that could of taken him on as an apprentince. This worked for my oldest son. So if you have a friend that is a carpenter,has a farm,works cattle,,,something,,,anything that will wear him out physically,he will do better. Sports works too,but mine only liked HALO,turns out he is good enough to be ranked very high worldwide,,who would of guessed that you could do something useful with it. His older brother has been taking him to play semipro paintball,he comes home so tired that all he does is sleep. But this has helped keep a smile on his face. The best of luck to you!!

Everyone has already said what I would say, just want to send you hugs and tell you that your son will be okay eventually. I raised four boys (23, 24, and 25 yo twins) and it was very very tough at times but they are now all grown up and doing okay. Hang in there!!!!

I can understand your situation and not putting a small animal in this type of environment. I think a lot of us are guilty of spoiling our children. We want to provide them with things that we never had. The teen years are very difficult. They were hard when we were growing up and now it is harder. Bullying has always been around but now bullying can be violent. I try to tell my high school senior daughter that you have to be so careful. Today boys will fool you that they care about you and plaster you naked all over the internet. We didn't have to deal with these kinds of pressures and embarrassment. We went through things as teens but nothing like our children deal with each day. Young people have to be so strong minded to survive. I will pray for you because I understand. I have a young adult son and I am still going through things with him.

As for Charlie, the lady, Jessica, seems to really want to find him a good home.she lives in ft Myers, and asked if i knew anyone, i can't think of any better people than those on this forum. if anyone is interested let know and i can forward your info to her.

I am so sorry. I actually can relate to you. I was a single Mom with a boy and a girl. They are both in their 40's now.

Jessica was like your son. She was defiant, argumentative and even got into trouble with the law. She had a baby as a teen and gave her up for adoption. It was yearsof pure hell. I could not spoil my kids even though i worked two and three jobs at a time. There was no extra money. She has gotten better but I tell people she is 45 going on 16. I wish I had a penny for every tear I cried. Just do what needs to be done and keep praying.

I love that you bought the book for the little boy. An act of kindness like that can change a person's world for the better.

I also admire you for making the difficult decision to not bring home a doggie until the time is right.

It seems that we all have something in common beyond our love of yorkies. I know some days I could not make it without the love of God, and my precious animals. Kirby and Khloe always give me love. One positive thing our children may give heartaches one day but smiles the next.

My oldest son wast the most argumentative, abusive and rebellious of my kids. It was a very difficult time when he was a teenager. He is now a lawyer. It figures. He majored in arguing as a teen. They do grow up. Hopefully without hurting themselves or their future.

You guys make me smile!! I pray almost every day for the strength and love to help him. Some days are good, yesterday and today are those days...so i am grateful!
