| Wow. That is a scary and unusual encounter. That bird must have zeroed in on your baby and just followed her along! Don't be deceived into thinking that hawks will only attack what they can carry away. They are quite accustomed to killing prey with their talons and eating it right there on the ground. Gracie loves to play in the grass in the backyard but we live in the middle of a forest. I have to sit there with her and I never let her get very far from me. I feel like I am doing guard duty whenever she is out there. Always scanning the trees and forest edge for wildlife. I don't think I would be taking her out for a long time if I had an encounter with a hawk like that one! |
