| It sounds like you have received a lot of great advice. I hope that this thread doesn't turn into a food debate... That's not what you asked for As for your pup, I would just give him some time to acclimate... He's used to chaos and is probably a bit freaked out over that. He will eventually come around and realize that he is safe. I would start out having him sleep in a crate with his bed and a potty pad. As he ages, I would give him more room to roam in the house... But keep an eye on his potty habits. Because he is not neutered, he may want to mark. I would get him neutered asap to stop that. Good luck!

| Gosh. That poor little dog. Sounds like he has been just overcome from all the activity of the "busy" household. I don't know why people get dogs when they hardly have time to run their own lives. He may be very nervous from the kind of life he has been living at that house. He probably has some fear and is being defensive. He may see your daughter as someone to be afraid of if he has been mistreated by other kids. Dogs that have been neglected and mistreated can be very nervous and defensive. You have some retraining to do. As already stated there is some good reading on YT. Hopefully you can find something to help. Try to keep things as quiet and peaceful as possible for this guy. He needs a place to decompress. He needs to learn that he is in a safe place now so he will start to lose the defensive attitude. Obedience classes after he has adjusted some may help. Make sure you only go to a well experienced trainer though. I would not recommend the pet stores. Hope you can help this little guy. He is going to take some real work but it is not impossible. |
