YT Addict | ![]() I have a Chihuahua and a Yorkie and although they are restricted, they have never been crated. I'm pretty sure they do a whole lot of sleeping when we aren't home but neither one has ever been destructive. My Chihuahua is about 11years old and my Yorkie is almost 2 years old. I am glad they have each other for company.........I think they are less likely to get into mischief that way! ![]()

| ![]() If info somewhere and Harley can't go, he goes in his crate when left alone, and at night he sleeps on the bed with us as our other dog gets to have free reign at night as well

YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() Both my guys have access to most of the house 24/7. I don't let them in the Computer Room, and I close the Doggy Door for a few hours in the evening. I have a resident Possum and old Yellow Cat (stray) who stroll through each evening for a snack. Other than that, they run back and forth from the second Floor "Observation" windows, all the way out to the end of the property MANY times a day.

| ![]() Most of the time someone is here, if they won't be, Yumi is crated Yuri is free, but not in the same area as Yumi's crate (because that just seems mean). Yuri Does great free, Yumi just isn't trustworthy yet. At night Yuri sleeps with us Yumi sleeps in her crate. We tried letting Yumi sleep with us but apparently our bed is big enough for a sleeping place and a potty place in Yumi's mind lol. I really hope she can sleep with us later! |

| ![]() I put Khloe and Kirby in the crate when I am out. Kirby is 8 years old and Khloe is 10 months . I don't want them to have any accidents or get into something while I am away. |

| ![]() Roxie roams now, but it took us a little while to get there. When we first got her she was nearly 3 years old and came with a crate. We crated her while we were out because her previous owner said that's what she did. But, then I felt bad being out for so long and having Roxie in the crate with no water or anything. Then she got weird about her crate and would bite if either of us tried to put her in there. We ditched the crate. We then gated her in the kitchen while we were out. Her food and water were in there. She did well with that, until we got tired of climbing over gates and the walls were damaged from them. We finally decided to try leaving her to roam free while we were out. First for small amounts of time, and then working our way up to the whole work day. She stays on the main floor where the living room, kitchen, and front hallway are. She does not go upstairs where the bedrooms are. She is afraid of the stairs. We've been lucky. Roxie doesn't chew or scratch anything, and she's only ever had a handful of accidents (usually when she's not been feeling well). She generally sleeps on the couch the whole time we're out. However, we do always make sure that we don't leave anything out that she could possibly eat or chew or get hurt by.

| ![]() I've let my bichon roam since she was pup, she's just always been so well behaved. Max on the other hand... yea... I didn't let him start having free roam until about 11 months. Now they both have free roam and don't really get into anything while I'm gone.

| ![]() Kaji gets free roam when I'm away. We started with my room, added the hallway, and eventually he got the whole apt. I did have to take back the kitchen when I kept finding the trash all over the floor. ![]() Ok... That is until recently. Kaji has started to poop in my room as soon as I leave for work. I crate him before I leave, and my mom lets him out to have free roam after she's done with work. I'm hoping we don't have to do this forever, and Kaji can earn his free roam again.
