| Tail sniffing A friend and I were talking how yorkies will check out their backsides when you touch their "stubbies". Was wondering if the yorkies that still have their tails will do the same thing when you touch their long tails? |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I've never noticed one of mine checking out their butts after I touch their docked tails, but I do know Ralphie seems to think I'm a dog. Whenever, I come home from the store, after kissing me he offers me his butt, which I promptly kiss.

| All dogs I have had or been around for a while do that after being touched in the tail area, long or short or docked tails.

YT 1000 Club Member | I have one each. My Male Sneakers tail is Docked, and My Female Becca's is full. I FREQUENTLY give them rubs and pats on their butts, and actually do a rub directly across the area back there which "debris" may have attached to after a poop, and neither of them pay any attention or react in any special way from my touching. However, when I do find something lingering there, I just pick them up, set them in the Tub, and use a Hand Held Shower to rinse the area directly. My Male Sneakers is somewhat indifferent about the washing, but Becca really likes it. She sorta looks back at what I'm doing, and thrust her tongue out over and over. That "debris" can be limited to some extent. I have the groomer cut the hair on their tails short, about 1/2" out away from their butts. I call it "Poop Room"

| I was just curious. I don't recall my cattle dog ever doing that. But it so noticiable with Bella and when I watch my nieces yorkie, he does the same thing. :-) I think it's adorable. |
