| Hurting heart Because Bella has taken to attacking Sophie lately I have had to send her upstairs to live with my daughter and her dogs. She has gone thru spells where Bella would jump Sophie (and not in play) but she has just been getting worse and worse. Sophie is an insecure submissive dog and Bella is not. At first it seemed she just would attacker her when Sophie seemed unstable like barking like crazy at a stranger but this weekend she went after her when she was just trotting around the patio with the other dogs. Bella just snaked around the furniture, people and other dogs to get at her. Even when I pulled Bella off she was snarling and growling to get at her. I can't wait until someone gets hurt, but I am so sad and I think Sophie is too. Bella just doesn't seem to know why she can't be down where she is lived for the last 2 years and sit in my lap or go to work with us. My daughter sent me this picture of Bella at our door looking for us.

| ahhhh don't you just wish you sit down and explain this to them. Just so I am understanding does your daughter live upstairs from you, if so that is going to be very hard on Bella since she will still see and smell you and the other dogs.

| This may sound nuts to some, but are you positive that Bella is trying to *hurt* Sophie? I only ask because our Bella is extremely vocal and snarly when she's playing - but she's only playing. We know it and Sprout knows it as well...she sounds like she's being vicious but she isn't. She pounces on Sprout all the time while snarling and snorting and growling, but she's never hurt him at all and knows not to bite hard when they're playing. I guess what I'm asking is...has Bella actually hurt Sophie before or does she just sound like she is? - are they both spayed? |

| Yes, I would like to find something else that would keep them both safe. I know when Bella is serious and she is serious!! I am going to try letting them be together for limited periods when they can be watched with no interruptions. Tonight when I brought Bella down she had her ears & tail straight up "flagging" when Sophie went over to see her then she raised up and put both front feet on Sophie's back in a dominating stance. I stood so that Bella couldn't escalate to more agression and then after about 2 hours of peace took her back up with the other "upstairs" pack. Hopefully we can work this out because we love both of them.
