Yes, I would like to find something else that would keep them both safe. I know when Bella is serious and she is serious!! I am going to try letting them be together for limited periods when they can be watched with no interruptions. Tonight when I brought Bella down she had her ears & tail straight up "flagging" when Sophie went over to see her then she raised up and put both front feet on Sophie's back in a dominating stance. I stood so that Bella couldn't escalate to more agression and then after about 2 hours of peace took her back up with the other "upstairs" pack. Hopefully we can work this out because we love both of them.
