| ![]() I just realized that the dew claws I thought I removed on 2 of my 3 week old puppies are still there. Do I dare snip them off again or are they too old? Thanks! |

I think that would be best handled by your veterinarian. I'm sure that at this point the cartilage has hardened, and sensitive nerves have formed. It would be very painful and may require stitches.

| ![]() Mikki had to have hers removed by the vet. They had to put her under to remove them. So good advice!

| ![]() My vet informed me, when I asked about Gizmos, that if they are not removed in the first few days, it's like amputating a finger and extremely painful. I would just leave them. |

| ![]() The pups are to old now to have the dewclaws removed again. It is possible you are just feeling a scab that could still fall off. When removing dewclaws you have cut them out under the skin. Using regular nail clippers does not normally work. I use a tiny pair of thin, sharply pointed cuticle scissors to remove the dewclaws
