| Q?? for those with liver shunt babies I have been trying to ween Charlie totally off of Chicken by giving him just 3 chuncks of "Delifresh chicken" by Oscar Meyer cut very small mixed in with his royal canine hepatic. He has done pretty good but I am to the point that I feel he shouldnt be on the chicken at all I have withheld it putting down only the RC but he wont eat it, he looks for the chicken and if its not there he walks away. I cant let him go without eating obviously so I had an idea. Morning Star make a garden veggie burger its ingredient include the following VEGETABLES (MUSHROOMS, WATER CHESTNUTS, ONIONS, CARROTS, GREEN BELL PEPPERS, RED BELL PEPPERS, BLACK OLIVES), TEXTURED VEGETABLE PROTEIN (SOY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, WHEAT GLUTEN, WATER FOR HYDRATION), EGG WHITES, COOKED BROWN RICE (WATER, BROWN RICE), ROLLED OATS, CORN OIL, CALCIUM CASEINATE, SOY SAUCE (WATER, SOYBEANS, SALT, WHEAT), CONTAINS TWO PERCENT OR LESS OF ONION POWDER, CORNSTARCH, SALT, HYDROLYZED VEGETABLE PROTEIN (CORN, SOY AND WHEAT), AUTOLYZED YEAST EXTRACT, NATURAL FLAVORS FROM NON-MEAT SOURCES, SUGAR, SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE, SPICES, GARLIC POWDER, DEXTROSE, JALAPEŅO PEPPER POWDER, CELERY EXTRACT the only ingredient I saw that concerned me was the onion powder they arent supposed to have that correct? it is less than 2% and he would not be getting an entire burger just enough to ween him to the RC alone. Does anyone know if this would be ok? are any other ingredients bad for him in this list? I am going to call the specialist tomorrow but sometimes I feel better having heard information from my YT family Any input is helpful Thanks

| Onion is also an ingredient... He needs to eat just the RC. Skipping a meal is ok as long as he does ot have a history of hypoglycemia. How about mixing in some mashed sweet potato? ...although tough love and just offering kibble will probably be best in the long run.

| They can go days... It is extremely rare for a dog to purposely starve itself. Your pup knows you will give in. Tough love. But if you are not comfortable with this, your pup likes homecooked food, you are happy to do it, and you don't mind spending a bit of money, then you can always have a re ipe formulated for your pup. I'd recommend contacting NCSU vet nutrition depr and consulting with Dr. Remillard.
