| Hi, Welcome to yorkietalk. It takes time to train these little ones. 8 weeks is young for a yorkie. You will find by talking to other yorkie owners on this site that they recommend a yorkie staying with mama until 12 weeks. So...be patient. Even at 12 weeks, when you bring them home for the first time, they are a bundle of energy and missing mom. Good luck and congrats on your new puppy!

| Welcome to you and your new furkid. Like CityGirl said, 8 weeks is rather young for a yorkie to leave his hom - usually they don't leave before 12 weeks. You have come to the right place to learn and share Yorkies. Would love to see pics |

| Welcome to YorkieTalk! Yorkies should not leave there mothers until 12 weeks so you might need to do some research on bite inhibition and socialization, what the pup would be leaving from his mom if he was with her now. Also do some research on hypoglycemia because a small breed 8 week old puppy can be high risk for it. I am guessing sense you are in Florida you have the ac on so make sure the pup stays warm. Also do not take him for walks or to community property until he has had all his puppy shots. You can use a collar to hold tags but you should only use a harness when using a leash because of the delicate tracheas small dogs have.

| Thanks for all the comments.I am so anxious to learn everything I can about yorkies.I love this little guy so much.He has such a personality.I am trying to learn how to post pics.I am not sure how to do this.He will be going to his vet the end of the month for his 2nd. go round of shots.I will ask the vet about hypoglycemic when I take him.He is a really good doc.He is started on advantage-multi also.We have a horrible mosquito season this year due to tons of rain,I am so sick of .I make sure and keep all of my babies on thier heartworm and flea meds.I have two resident dogs I will introduce also.Love this board. |
