All that Dawn or any flea shampoo does is kill any fleas that are on the dog's body at the time of the bath. You really need a monthly topical to prevent a flea infestation during the months when things are not frozen outside. Fleas can lay eggs inside your house so make sure you vacuum in all the likely places and throw out the contents right away.

Thanks very much for the advice gracielove i have vacuumed the places she has been and ive heard they like to go near the skirting boards so ive done them also. It's a difficult job with Tara she seems to like the vacuum cleaner and chases it i have to put her in another room she's a real live wire
