| Brain bleeding caused by the dog itself?? It happened a tragic accident with my Yorkie a few weeks ago. An acquaintance of mine would look after the dog a few hours and when I came back the dog was dead! He said that he had accidentally stepped on the dog's paw. The dog had become frightened and ran into an edge of a bookcase. The dog did not seem seriously hurt, but after about an hour, he found my dog dead. The autopsy shows that it died of a hemorrhage in the brain caused by violence against the head. Would like to know if there is anyone who have been involved in situations like this. That is, a dog dying from damages in the head, caused by the the dog itself. |

| I have not heard of this before but it does sound plausible. I am so sorry for your loss.

| I am very sorry for your tragic loss. It is possible for a dog to injure himself -- my Max ran head on into a wall when he was a puppy and moving too fast. This won't bring your puppy back, but I would think twice about allowing your friend to watch another dog. This doctor should be able to tell if the trauma was from an accident like running into a bookcase.

| I am so sorry for your loss, and I know in grieving it is unsettling to not fully understand the cause of death. My heart goes out to you.

YT 500 Club Member | So sorry for you. My baby jumped out from my arms and fell on the floor and landed on her head. She cried hard! This was the sort of thing I was worried about with my baby. I was afraid of internal bleeding from the fall too. I just watched her for the next few days, and seems fine. I just pray nothing happens either.

| OMG....my heart is crying with you! I would be heartbroken! Hope has hit her head hard on our coffee table. They can run so fast and easily run into something. How is your friend handling this? Do they seem remorseful and feel as badly as you do? {{{{HUGS}}}} |

| I am so sorry for your loss . We did have a member here post not long ago about her little one who fell over backwards on her wood floor playing with her other dog. It injured his little brain also and he passed away so I know it can happen .

| I'm so sorry for your loss... very sad. Yes, I have heard of this, though more commonly from falls and hitting the head on the floor. I always take any kind of head trauma seriously.

| I am so sorry for your loss... It is very possible that this was an accident, but I definitely would not trust your friend to watch your dog should you choose to adopt again.
