| Short Hair or Long Hair? So I need people's opinions on if you think shorter or longer yorkie hairstyles are better. Both have benefits and both look cute so which would you prefer and why? Just curious. |

| Depends on the coat type of your yorkie. Cotton coat is hard to keep long. It grows crazy fast but mats easily. Silky is desired and grows way slow but doesn't mat as bad and is smoother. Obviously a short coat is easier to take care of. Depends on how much time you want to spend on grooming each day. Your york is still young, you need to start training him now with grooming. Get him used to you touching is paws esp for nail trimmings and roll him on his back to brush his tummy. My foster Scraps HATES being flipped over and he's a cotton coat, so it's hard to groom him. =/

| I like short on the body & legs, but with a little longer, rounded face. It's easy to maintain, but they still keep that traditional yorkie look we all fell in love with.

| I love the long coats but that is why I got a Yorkie is because I love the look. Have some really cute ones in the shorter cuts but have seen some that were longer and real slim that I hated it on so I think its all in what you prefer. Kyras coat takes a little more care as it is thicker but if I condition spray and comb her twice a day we don't get mats. Laddy has the silky coat which is a breeze to care for.

| Short. He's a boy tired of explaining. He's has medical issues short is easier and cleaner with them. He's active. We have three dogs and three kids I'm short on grooming time right now. It's summer. He's cat style cleans himself less. I like confusing people with my Mini Schnauzer and Yorkie both having a schnauzer cut. He stinking hates a top knot. We're redoing the yard again-lots of mud/dirt.

| It really is personal preference, I like long, but then Zoe doesn't mind getting combed. For everyday wear I just put her hair in a ponytail and she doesn't mind at all. Now when we dress up she gets the topknot and I always take it down at night. But Zoe is a silky and it's very easy to take care of, she has never had a mat at all and while she would rather be playing than get combed she is really patient with it too. |

| I keep both of my girls short. They are very active, love to play in the yard. We take them in the pool too, so it's easier to rinse the chlorine from short hair. Luna is cotton-coated AND hates to be brushed. I thought about growing Izzy's out, she is silky, and doesn't mind brushing too much. But she'd be full of hitchhikers from the grass on days when it's longer than normal. Plus they look cute

| It depends on the dog. My two are super active so during the summer I keep them really short and then grow it out during the winter. Their hair never gets very long and they are comfortable with it.

| I had Miss Priss trimmed before we went to the beach, she has a silky coat and I want it to grow out to see how she will look. She is slender so not sure if it will be pretty, I do love her colors though. I think it is a personal thing, everyone has different ideas and just go with what you like yourself. No matter what they are too stinking cute!!!!!

| Long. Yorkies were bred to have long hair. It's such a glorious feature, why would you then cut it off?

| Some dogs just don't have the personality for long hair. Some are way to active I would be picking junk out of Callie's hair all the time if she had long hair plus even when her hair grows out slightly she still gets cold so easily and putting clothes on her would be a nightmare with long hair.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I love the long hair too. But with 4 in full coat I decided to cut Cali down to a puppy cut. She is much happier and so am I. She looks pretty in a long coat and cute in a short coat. 2 of mine have silky coats so they are easy to take care of. Roxie has a cotton coat but I don't think she would look good in a puppy cut but I have thinned out her coat a lot to make it easier on her.

You should see ZoE after she's run though the back yard in Autumn with all the fallen leaves....I didn't know a coat could possibly hold so many! And I agree picking them out isn't much fun, but she so thoroughly enjoys running & jumping in the leaves that I don't the heart to stop her. Long hair with clothes definately requires alot more brushing.... before clothing goes on and immediately after clothing coming off, along with the regular daily grooming. But, I still LOVE A LONG COAT
