| If several of us lived closer, our lives would be easier when we would have to leave our little ones. I've decided I'd leave Bella with her groomer if I had to. I trust her and watches other little ones along with her mom being a yorkie mom also. |

| I used to hate when vacations would end, because that meant back to school or work. Now that I have Maci, coming home from vacation or a long weekend is one of the best parts of the vacation. Seeing Maci jump around and give me kisses like crazy makes me so happy. Especially since she usually stays with my parents who are just below me on the list of humans she loves so I know she's given lots of love while I'm gone, only for me to come home and spoil her with even more. It is definitely hard to leave her though and I always miss her like crazy!

| I have only been on vacation once without my girls, and the whole time I would look around and think, "Boy the girls would love this park!"..."This would be a great place to picnic with the girls"...if I come back, I have to make sure I come "here" with the girls. I would watch people walking their dogs and almost cry because I missed my girls so much. I decided then and there that there would be NO more vacations without the girls...I do have plans for a special birthday trip...but I have a couple of years to prepare myself for that one! |

| I am always so sad to leave my girls. ( I have to hide putting the suitcase in the car, or my Piccolo gets extremely upset, poor thing.) But, I am lucky enough to have a great husband that takes care of my girls while I am away, or we hire a stay-at-the-house dogsitter. Worth the expense to me! Also, taking the dogs with me is my favorite kind of vacation.

| My husband is getting sent to Seattle, Washington for work in September (for a week) and I get to go along for just the cost of a plane ticket. I'm looking forward to it, but unfortunately since it is work-related we don't get to choose the hotel which means no-dogs-allowed. I've made plans for my mom to keep Chloe, but I'm already dreading it! I've thought about leaving Chloe with her vet, but Chloe really only likes four people...me, my husband and my parents. So I worry that if I left her anywhere else she would be miserable. The sad thing is, my parents aren't really "dog people" in the usual sense of the word. They enjoy Chloe but to them, she's still "just a dog". So while I trust my mom with her, it's just not the same as leaving her with someone who feels the way I do about dogs. -C

| I haven't yet gone any where without Gracie. I would spend all my time feeling bad about her wondering why I have abandoned her. I know that sounds weird to some but really she is such a creature of habit. If I am just a few minutes late taking her on one of her daily walks she lets me know. What would she think if I took her and left her in a strange place? I think if she was accustomed to staying at other places she would be OK but that is not the case. When I first got her I was recovering from a serious back injury so I didn't go any where very often. Now that I am able to go places I am reluctant to do so unless I can take her with me. She is a good traveler. I hope your baby does well while your gone. If he is comfortable with your neighbor he should do well. I hope you have taken him over there frequently so he will not be afraid. |

| I feel your pain!! I just got back from vacation (visiting my Brother in Virginia) and I took Remy but had to leave the two other dogs with a friend. She texted pictures and kept me up to date... but still ![]() In December my dh had a stem cell transplant and I had to leave all three for 6 weeks... I was so very lucky to have a dear friend who stayed in my home with them otherwise I think I would have gone crazy!!! It will be ok.. they deal with it better then we do

| I know ! We worry. I rarely go on a vacation without them. But sometimes it is not safe or practical to take them. When we attend an out of state wedding we were only gone 3 days. We didn't take the dogs, the expense of flying 4 Yorkies and a big Lab girl and finding an affordable hotel that allowed pets and the fact that they would be alone in the room most of the time, made taking them seem silly. I use a in homesitter, that worked out great. I hate boarding my Yorkies for any reason. Take a deep breath, say a prayer and enjoy yourself. Some Vacations and /or travel are more fun and safer for everyone, if the children and Yorkies stay home.

| Just an update on my vacation and leaving my dog.... yeah...We left on Saturday, drove to Northern Ca. My wake up call was my brother at 5:30am telling me my mom was in the hospital with a rapid heartbeat. She was ok, the doctors were testing her for stress/anxiety, etc. We had breakfast, got back on the road heading for Oregon... I got a call about 10am from the neighbor keeping Copper. She said that Copper wasn't eating and that he was crying/whining all the time. This wasn't going to work. (My brother was my emergency dog sitter and he was currently sitting in the hospital with my mom.) So...I said I would call my son. I didn't ask my son originally because they just had a baby plus they have a 5 year old. My son agreed to go and get Copper but couldn't get there right away. So then I called another neighbor with a teenage girl to see if they could go get Copper in the meanwhile and take him to my house. They went right away. The daughter stayed with Copper at my house until my son could get him. Copper was fine. To make a long story short...ha ha...my son and his family ended up keeping Copper all week. They treated him extremely well even letting them sleep in their bed between them. Their 5 year old daughter loved having him. (She is actually very good with him...) I was very grateful to my son...I had a t-shirt made for him that said, "Mom likes me best!" and gave it too him when I got back. I also paid them what I would have paid the neighbor even though they protested. What a blessing to have good neighbors and family! ![]()

| So far we take Oliver with us. Haven't been on vacay yet, weekend trip etc he's right there. We're hoping to adopt a big brother for Oliver to play with and for Hubby and I to love. We would definitetly take "the boys" with us. One for each of us to watch...I think it'd be fun!

| I am one of the lucky ones. One of my friends has a yorkie and so we take turns watching each other's yorkie. I trust her completey because I know how how much she loves her yorkie and how well she takes care of him. She's an animal lover just as much as I am. Because of that whenever I go out of town, she'll watch Brandi for me and when she goes out town, I'll watch Scooter for her. It works out perfectly for the both of us because I don't have to worry about Brandi and she doesn't have to worry about Scooter. I also have my stepmom who is also an animal lover. She has two cats that are twice the size of Brandi. |

| Shoot, I smuggle in my Presley every time we head to the beach. Have ever since he was little. And, we usually go 3 times a year. You take a chance and once, when we stayed at a different condo, we got caught with him and had to put him in a kennel then show proof we kenneled him. That lasted 2 days. I broke him out and back into the condo. And, boy did he ever let me know he was not happy being kenneled even though I went to him every day to play. They never knew we smuggled him back in. Heck, we are going again in September. When we travelled overseas we always left him with one of our moms and unfortunately now, they are both gone. So usually one always stays home with him if one travels overseas or locally where we cant take him. |

| When we got our first Yorkie, little Misty, I hired a girl going to medical school who lived on the other side of our apartment bldg to come over five times a day to walk, feed, and play with her when I had to go back to NY to see my father who did not have a lot of time left. When I needed to go back for his funeral a few months later, she had finished school and moved back east. I had the nerve to call her and beg her to come back to stay with Misty again -- I was going to pay for her round trip tickets plus a hefty fee for her time. I wound up leaving her with the vet, and I suffered mightily that week, for my dad and my Misty. We are Yorkless now...my Hailey went to the Bridge on Dec. 23, 2006. We never got Yogi. His mother's daughter decided to take him, and it probably worked out better for him because she sounds and looks like her mother, just younger. He bonded with her right away. One of these days I have to figure out how to take him off my avatar. Anyway, we're finally ready to get another Yorkie, maybe in the spring, which is a long drawn out effort to say we'll be back in that same exact situation. I would even rush back from errands and shopping just so I would not leave them too long. These little ones really wrap themselves around your heart. |
