Donating YT 500 Club Member | Ready to Try Again It was just over a year ago that we got the news that Ozzie had lymphoma. Just three months later, I had to let him go. If you've ever lost a furry baby, then you already know what the last nine months have been like. Yeah. That. And in the past several weeks, I think I have felt that emptiness just as much as I did during that first month or so where I was still expecting to see him in the morning and laying a certain way so as not to kick him! My mother has asked me several times if I wanted to get another dog and I've said no. And then the other night, at the conclusion of an episode of "Property Brothers," the twins brought their client family a dog … a little Yorkie. It was more than my heart could stand. And I lost it. I know my mom felt bad herself and then more so for me. "Isn't there a Yorkie rescue?" she asked. "There are lots of babies out there that need a home." She is so right. I really don't want to go the puppy route again. This time, I'd like to give one a home for whom it would be the equivalent of winning the lottery. So I did something I hadn't in a while: I did a local shelter search (less than 50 miles) and about five Yorkie/Yorkie mixes came up! There is one little guy who sounds perfect but I can't get the shelter to respond. I figure though that if it's meant to be, it will be. Otherwise, I'll keep looking. Hopefully, you'll see me back here regularly again soon, this time posting about our new addition. It would be nice to have such happy posts again! |

| I hope you find the perfect dog for you. Losing one is so hard. As far as the shelter, could you possibly go to it? That might be the best way to get your information. Hope it works out for you.

| I so remember your Ozzie, as my Lizzie was DX'd with same thing about the same time of your Ozzie. I lost her in November. I just at the end of May took in a little 4 1/2 yr old girl that was a re-home. I wasn't planning adding more, as I still had two, but I have always had at least 3. Good luck in your search for you new companion. I know you will find the perfect fit for you.

Zachary's Mom Donating Member | There are Yorkie rescues that you can contact (Google Yorkie Rescue). Transport can sometimes be arranged. One problem I had while trying to get a rescue was not having a fenced yard. This was NOT a Yorkie I was trying to get but a Japanese Chin. After getting turned down more than one time and meeting some really nasty "rescuers", we decided to get another puppy which was something we swore we would NEVER do again. I had always wanted a Yorkie and at figured at the age of almost 65, it was now or never. Puppyhood is a long and frustrating time. I have discovered that a Yorkie is the most difficult dog I have ever tried to housebreak. BUT, it is well worth the effort to have such a precious furbaby!! Louise |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I wish! This is a rescue with in-home foster. (Which I like but it doesn't do much on the communication front!) Thanks for the kind words. |

| ♥ I'm so happy for you that your heart has reached the place that is going to allow another little Yorkie a home there. Ozzie would want you to have another like him, be it male or female. I'm excited for you just imagining what your new baby will be like - puppy, young adult, middle age or oldster - a Yorkie is the best thing you can do for yourself. Go out there and find your new best friend and post all about him or her with lots of pictures - or, if you are waiting on hearing from a rescue or whatever news you have. Oh, and welcome back. I'm happy for you.

| Have you looked into the rescue section here on YT? We got our little Lolita from a member there. We only got to have her a short 2 years but I will always cherish the time we had with her.
