How does your Yorkie get your attention?

I get growled at and depending on what Kiwi wants, I may get my legs pounded on with her front paws. She's only 3 pounds, but she packs a punch! Her growls and whines are completely irresistible.

Scarlett has a few different ways of getting our attention.. The first way is to lie and wait for us to pay attention. If we don't notice what she wants she will make a sound that I can only describe as a cooing sound. Almost like a pigeon would make. If by then we don't react, she will start barking loudly at us! Sometimes when I am in the kitchen making dinner, she will jump on my legs and push me from behind! She is such a stinker but we love her to pieces! My other yorkie, Missy, who we lost earlier this year, would just poke me in the back of the legs very gently with her nose. I really miss her.

Maggie May will come over and put her front legs on my leg and do the long and drawn out stretchy thing. If I don't pick her up quick enough, she will wag her little but and give me the weepy brown eye look. lol

Hot Rod comes over and paws at me.

Bailey licks my leg and then paws at me. If his water bowls empty, he brings it to me! He started doing that when he was really little, it would cover his whole face and he couldn't see where he was going..it was so cute!

With Graysee, it all depends on what she wants. If she needs to go out to potty, she just hops onto the ottoman (if I'm watching TV), and stares at me. If I ask her what she wants, she'll bark "Ruff, ruff" (twice means YES), and jump off the ottoman sideways. If I'm sitting at the computer, she'll either come up and place both paws, with nails extended, on the middle of the seat between my legs, OR will place those paws on my bare leg, and stretch while letting those nails drift down my leg. Sometimes it's not all that pleasant!
If she wants to play, she'll simply bring out a toy, and stand there with it in her mouth, and give out a little growl; if I don't pay attention, then the next sound is a little "Ruff". If I still ignore her, she'll throw her head to the side and toss the toy into the air, and let out a much louder "Ruff"! If she just wants attention, or is hungry, and I'm sitting in my favorite leather chair, she'll hop onto the arm of the chair, perk up her ears, lift her left paw towards me, to paw at my arm, and let out the most pitiful, weird little whines and growls until I pay attention and/or get up to play, or give her some "num-nums". She has quite the repertoire of actions and noises, and keeps me very entertained!

That's adorable! I would crack up if Graysee were able to pick up her bowl and bring it to me!

"Literally climb up in my face then just fall over like a fainting goat. That's how she gets her tummy rubbed. She has so much trust in people because she'd fall right off the sofa if you didn't catch her. LOL."

That is TOO funny! My Graysee will get up in my face, but then she'll usually just lick until I push her off, or pick her up and do whatever it is that she wants!

Thanks! I've had a lot of dogs in my life through my own pets & rescues but I can honestly say I have never had one with so much personality. I call him my little Shirley Temple dog! He is the Shirley Temple of dogs - loaded to his tiptoes in cuteness & tricks of the trade geared toward pleasing people's "cuteness" spot in the brain. He puts pizzazz into everything he does. And this dog spent his first 9 mos. of life confined mostly to a cage outside with barely anything in the way of a life and no socialization. How he got from there to here I don't know.

Like others have said, it depends on what is wanted......

To go outside: He will stare intensely at me but not say a word. If I dont notice he will get on the tile and hop up and down making his nails click on the tile to get my attention.

To wake me in the morning: He ever so lightly takes his sandpaper like paws and rubs them across my face

Need a belly rub: He can be laying down and he will slowly roll over to expose his belly so that I can rub it until he smiles (just a little creepy)

Hungry: goes to the bowl and takes his paw and rubs it across the bottom making enough noise so that you get him food.

Dads home: bark like a mad man over and over and over until dad is inside.
