| Please keep in mind that reputable breeders do not just sell to anyone. There are back yard breeders a plenty, and even worse brokers and puppymills. Not everyone is cut out to own a dog, or more specifically a yorkie, so those that do not get approved by reputable breeders the BYBs and mills step in unfortunately. Also have you ever looked in to adopting a rescue? The only way you are guaranteed a dog within 3-5 lbs is to adopt an adult. Even the most reputable breeders cannot guarantee adult size of a puppy.

| I have owned many dogs including labs and min pins. I do my research before ever buying a dog and have been looking into a yorkie for years. I am well aware of the brokers and puppy mills and back yard breeders, that's why I thought I would ask on here to insure I didn't run into that! And I'm not to particular on the size, under or around 5 pounds would be fine with me but I really want to start with a puppy and raise it. Thanks again for your help! |

| Well the yorkie standard is n ot to exceed 7 lbs, so I guess that's what most would want. but 3-5 varies from the small end to the normal end. Uni is 6 lbs and gets lots of comments she's "too big" t o be a yorkie. and any smaller you get "are they teacups?" comments, oh well. WTF is up with m y tyoing, there it goes again! OMG Ugh you know what I mean.

| That is around there their normal weight range. I prefer the smaller ones but I DO NOT want one that is bred small and unhealthy. I would definitely get a larger healthier puppy than getting an unhealthy puppy just for their size. |

One lady answered because she can only lift up to 4 pounds and needed a yorkie 3-4 pounds so she could life it if needed. You know me I'm just freaking nosy! Beside I'm naughty I only want a Yorkie if it's over 10 pounds-with kids and other dogs here (12-21 pounds) we want all those out of standard too large guys. I was also asking because as we all know a breeder can't guarantee size in pups so maybe if there's a really specific reason in the sizing, an older grown pup or dog should be suggested to the OP to guarantee size.

| Oh yes I understand no guarantee in the size. I would be happy just seeing the parents and going off of them. I have no real reason lol I just think they're adorable and would be happy with any puppy I could get! |

| We have a 4.8 lb little man who is healthy and a live wire we also have a very active 2.6 lb baby girl (almost 8 months) I will say we are hoping she gains weight because it is such a worry that she will hurt herself because they all think they are 100 lb dogs in their minds. Welcome to YT.
