As tiny puppies my Yorkies were feed 4 times a day. I then cut it to 3 times a day at 6 months. They now all eat 2 times per day but do get a snack around lunch time. Scheduling definitely makes housebreaking easier. I never restricted water.

Roxie is on a schedule. DH feeds her at 5:15 am when he gets up for work, and then she gets dinner at 5:00 pm. I have to tell you, that DOES NOT make her poops predictable at all. Ever. She only poops once a day, and it's at all different times.

We leave water out for her all day, and she periodically gets treats or fruit/veggies during the course of the day.

She has LP in her back leg and weight fluctuations tend to affect the severity of it. She also has a delicate GI system and is on prescription food, so we monitor what she eats carefully.

Chase and Calvin get breakfast (kibble with Grandma Lucy's) at 6:30am (a little later on weekends

) and dinner (kibble with wet food) at 6:30pm. When they were puppies I would leave dry down all the time too, but stopped doing that after Chase decided he wanted to eat everything in sight
