| Kennel cough can get quite severe if left untreated. It is also very contagious. Since you pup is still a baby I would get her treated as soon as possible. |

| That's exactly what my old yorkie use to do too, just randomly hack an "invisible hair ball" and then be done with it. I had her for 17 years and she did this all the time, not really daily just randomly here and there. This is why I wasn't too concerned when Pippa did it but then my vet said it wasn't normal and the fact that she was doing it each morning made me think twice. She never did it this morning so I'll see if she does tomorrow morning and then take her to the vet if she does. I have no problems having her treated with antibiotics I just didn't know if it was better to see if it heals on it's own(cause I read it can run it's course and be gone in a few weeks) rather then do possibly unnecessary antibiotics (didn't know if they can harm such small pups) but everyone seems to advise me to treat it ASAP so I will. Once again, I have to tell you guys...I'm loving this forum! |

You asked for advice and we are giving it, and I think others will agree with me, this pup needs treatment NOW not later. Ok, so let us know how it goes when you get back from the vet...

| Do you or anybody else in your family have long hair? I have long hair & occasionally, Momo will eat my hair accidentally if it's stuck on his fav toy ball. He'll hack like if something is itching his throat & if I open his mouth, a hair will be half way down his throat & I have to pull it out. I have to clean my floors everyday. It can be fibers from toys too, so we avoid any furry toys. He also has environmental allergies... Now, if he's hacking a lot for many days straight, it can be kennel cough. Please take him to the vet asap. If left untreated, it can lead to pneumonia.

| Sorry for the late reply, I meant to let you guys know after my vet appointment and then got side tracked and forgot. Pippa is doing great, my vet checked her over and feels she is fine. Thanks for all your great advice! |
