| Foam ear plugs We are going to the fireworks at the park tonight. Our grandson is with us and we are taking his great grandmother as well. Since we need to leave early to get a good place to set up to see the concert and fireworks, I thought I'd take Lolliepop. She has never been afraid of loud noises and I don't want her to be nervous, but crowd exposure would be good for her. So I was thinking about using some soft foam earplugs when the fireworks start. Has anyone ever used them on a furkid? Just curious. |

| I would be worried they would fall out and maybe eat them?? Doubt the dog will let you keep them in?? Maybe muffs made up will work better?? |

| Thank you for your reply. Lollie is pretty tolerant of things in her hair and me fiddling with her ears. In fact, I had the ear plugs in for a while earlier and she didn't seem to mind. What I'm really wondering is if they would work the same as they do with humans as far as blocking noise. I don't really think the noise will bother her, but I just don't want to take any chances. |

| I tried using theses once for Cali but I could not keep them in. Seemed like they were just too big. I wanted to used them for bath time, but had to go back to cotton balls. Cali is not afraid of thunder or anything like that, but does not like fireworks -too loud I guess. Have a good time

I use to wear the foam plugs when I went to the movies with my grown sons. My ears were very sensitive to loud noises and actually caused me pain. The foam ear plugs weren’t that effective, I still had to cover my ears.

| I shoot guns alot. The foam plugs need to have a solid fit to work correctly. If it's not completely sealed it won't be affective anyway. They will reduce alot of noise with proper fit |

| I was thinking of using them for my dogs...and me! Tink has been steady barking since Friday. I went outside with her for a potty break (for her, lol) and one firecracker went off so close to us I had ringing in my ear for about an hour. Idiot neighbors!

| I'm wondering how things went for you. I wouldn't take Gracie to the fire works. She is not afraid of loud noises and I didn't want to take the chance of starting something. Did your Lolliepop tolerate it well? |

| Thank you for all of the replies. Lollie did go with us and had a fantastic time. The first firework explosion was a surprise to Lollie and she jumped a bit so I put the ear plugs in. I don't think there was a perfect seal, but she didn't mind them and settled down quite nicely so they must have helped some. It was a very nice family outing, and having Lollie with us just made it so much more fun! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Glad it worked out for you, I took my two to see my son's new house and we noticed from the front yard we had a perfect view of fireworks being shown from someplace. We sat out and watched the show and my two didn't mind it a bit, and there were some pretty loud blasts. The whole time I thought about you and what lousy advice I had given! Seriously, I read so many times that people here have tried it and it was a catastrophe, I'm a little shocked my two were so good, but they were so excited about peeing in a new yard that the noise didn't bother them. I agree with you, taking them makes it so much more fun, if they can handle it.
