doggielawn.. Was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this. I bought one for my new puppy cause I wanted her to learn to go potty inside on this. I received it this morning, its beautiful lawn about 20 x 24", but my puppy went absolutely psycho on it...eating it and digging in it, and I kept picking her up because I didn't want her eating the grass, she was nuts about it...I finally put it up...she was choking on the grass, wondering if this is because it is something new and will pass or should I just not use it...I haven't let her stay on it long enough to do anything cause she just keeps eating it. LOL....their website is www.doggielawn.com

I have never used the product. I do have a little girl that thinks she is a cow and likes to taste the grass outside. I'm always having to tell her to stop. She also gets kind of crazy when I bring any package into the house and open it. I think it's the smell of something new that sets her off. They could have used some sort of manure to grow the grass. I suppose the smell of fertilizer could set her off.

its grown through hydroponics...don't think they use any kind of fertilizer. I hope I didn't just waste my money on it, but I'm not letting her down on it to choke on the grass. She doesn't use the pee pads, so I'm looking for something else. I'm afraid if I got something with the artificial grass looking potty that she would tear the grass up on that also. I hope this chewing gets better, she is a terror, if she's awake she's chewing something!

My Gracie used to be a terror about chewing as well. Have you tried bully sticks? They really solved our chewing issue. Once she got a hold of her first bully stick she chewed it for two hours. I had to take it from her! Once she got her chewing urge satisfied she didn't need to chew on it as much but she did stop chewing things she was not supposed to........as long as her bully stick was available. Have you tried confining her with a pee pad? Like putting her in an exercise pen with the pee pad? It takes a lot of constant watching with these little ones. If they are not attracted to the scent of the pee pad then you just have to put them on it when they start to squat to pee. It does take perfect timing.

Oh..the bully sticks, yes she's on her 2nd one already, she chews on it for hours, then gets bored and starts chewing on something else. When do the puppy teeth start falling out? I think she's definately teething, but her baby teeth are like little razors they're so sharp. I have her confined to our front entry with baby gates, and then to our kitchen with baby gates. There are pee pads in each, she will lay on the pee pads like they are her bed, and go pee on our kitchen indoor/outdoor mat that is below the sink. Though it is easy to clean up from there, I wonder why she thinks her pee pads are to sleep on. LOL.

Sometimes you need to buy a liquid house breaking aid. It has a hormone in it that attracts the puppy to pee in the place you apply it. Put it on the puppy pads to help get your pup interested in peeing there. Some pads are supposed to have the hormone on them but not all of them are very effective. Most throw rugs that go in the kitchen and bathroom have a rubber like backing that smell much like urine to a dog or even a cat. They actually attract the pet to pee on them. I had to get rid of my kitchen mats and keep my bathroom mat on the side of the tub when not in use. While the house breaking aid will help, you really need to be there to put the puppy on the pad when it is about to go pee. It's the only way she is going to learn what you expect of her. If you get her to stop eating your new doggie lawn product you are still going to have to be there to teach her what it is for. You can put the house breaking liquid on it to help attract her to it but you have got to be there to get her to it in time.

we actually use this product and it works out really well for us. I trained my dog on it using the puppy training schedule (even though she's not a puppy) and used the grass as a supplement (so I wouldn't have to go down the 3 floors to go outside) and crate trained her. I stuck exactly to the schedule for 7 days and watched her whenever she was on the grass. The first 3-4 times she tried to claw and gnaw at the grass and so I just took her off of it and put her back in the crate, waited 15 minutes and put her back on the grass and if she tried to play with it I put her immediately back in the crate. Oh, I also rubbed a little bit of her urine on the grass so it had her scent. I don't think the grass would have worked if I just left it on the ground and waited for her to figure it out. I think you need to kind of help train her and get her used to it, which is also kind of the same thing I read you need to do with potty pads.

I tried something similar and Brandi turned into a bed. It's now in the closet along with the other stuff I bought Brandi that she never used. I buy an expensive toy and she would rather play with my hand or a ball of aluminum foil.

I will say this, now that she's trained on it, it's been fantastic. She goes on it whenever she needs to of her own free will. Kind of dorkie, but I kinda get a kick out of it when she does 1) because she's not doing it on the rug and I don't have to clean it up 2) its cute to see her use it, she's just stares at me while she's on it like she's saying "see mommy, i did good!". Yes, I anthropomorphize my dog, I can't help it :-)
