They original owner did not want him any longer either because her and they boyfriend have gotten back together and he had pitt bulls as well so they gave him away and here we are!!! I do hope to learn more about him and give him a more stable home then what he have had. That is why i have joined this forum cause i do have lots of questions.... |

| Welcome & ask away. There are many supportive members here. I read through the various threads & sticky notes to learn a lot here then also called or emailed yorkie owners & breeders who were very helpful. I look forward to seeing pics & hearing more about Winston & you. Glad he found a forever home with you. |

| When you say you are "stuck" do you mean he is still not eating? Is he eating anything? |

| Well the lady that had him for one week said he would not eat at all and that for the whole week she gave him nothing but table food. I don't know what the other owner was feeding him i think table food as well. He is just a year old and i have only had him for 2 days. And i have tried to feed him Cesar food mixed with Little Bites from Purina and he just sniffs and walk away. I don't know what to do. He is a loving little guy and sleeps ALOT |

| Is there any way you can get in contact with the original owner? Maybe you could find out what he was eating. Of course he is upset and stressed because of what has happened to him so it might take a while for him to adjust. Your local pet supply store should have some grain free food that he might be interested in. Most of the foods you find in the grocery store have some low grade ingredients in them that end up causing more trouble than good. |

| Hi and welcome to YT. Glad that Winston has found you. Poor baby has been thru the ringer. I would make sure to have some Nutrical or Karo syrup around in case he starts to get a little shakey from hypoglycemia from not eating. I would just forget about trying to get information from the previous owners and just start your own regime with Winston. At this point, getting him to eat is more important. Maybe try some boiled chicken and rice and slowly find a food and mix it in until he's totally on it. At 1, he would be considered an adult, but I would probably still give him some puppy type of food as it doesn't sound like he's gotten very much proper nutrition. Puppy food is higher in fat, proteins and vitamins. I wouldn't keep him on it for too long but maybe for a short while. I feed mine Stella and Chewy's raw freeze dried. It's convenient and good for them. I have probably feed them 10-15 different types of foods and this is the one that they consistently eat which is a good thing for the convenience when traveling. Good luck and don't be afraid to ask something.

| At this point I'd have a vet check him thoroughly to rule out parasites or any other health issue. Do you know if he has had his vaccinations or been wormed? If not he needs to be checked as his appetite could be suppressed. I agree with keeping nutrical orkaro on hand & giving him some cchicken & rice. Do you know how much he weighs? |

| Welcome to YT ! Is this a 5 lb dog or a 10 lb dog ? I ask because the smaller he is the more danger of hypoglycemia from not eating. I would get him to a vet ASAP for a check up. Keep us posted on how he's doing. Yorkies can be picky eaters so you will need to try several different foods till you find one he likes & in the mean time you need to get some NutriCal & give him some a few times a day. |

| Hello and welcome. Are you from the US? uK ? Canada ? foods differ in various countries. Although yorkies can be picky a hungry dog should pretty much eat anything so either he has been eating or he can't eat for some reason. I agree he needs a vet check sooner rather than later. If he has been eating human food then starting with some cooked chicken and rice is a good option adding a kibble of your choice. Best start with a small bite kibble cause the larger stuff can be too hard for small teeth. Royal canin do a yorkie kibble lots of them seem to like and is just the right size. Start by mixing a little kibble with the chicken then reduce the amount of meat. You could try hand feeding the kibble. Lots of wee dogs like this. Good luck with your new boy. Love the name by the way. What condition is his coat in ?
