| Airline approved carrier I have spent the entire day, literally researching the best airline carrier and need your help. I have a Kwigy Bo for running around town, but I just don't think it is roomy enough for a plane ride. My Zoe baby is 6 months old and will be taking her first plane ride with me the end of this month. She currently weighs 4.2 pounds. I like the looks of the Ceeltie tote o pet, but was wondering if anyone had experience with that particular bag. Also just wondering what all of you use. I want a pretty one, but one that my baby will also be comfortable in. Money is not a factor, I will spend whatever I need to spend for my baby. This will be her first of many flights so I just want something nice. |

| We've been using a Kobipet carrier for our 5-pound Gracie. She's been on 4 plane trips in it and it's working so far. Here's the link: Kobi | Pet Carriers for dogs and cats She can't stand all the way up in it but she's got lots of room to move around and lie down. It has mesh on both ends and on top so when she's under the seat at my feet she can see me. I can also pat her on the head to calm her down on take-offs and touch-downs. She gets a little Dr-approved tranquilizer but I don't give her much and she does get nervous. I also saw someone on my last flight with a wheeled carrier that had a lot of mesh - when they were wheeling the pup in the airport it was sitting up completely and looking through the mesh. I think when they lay it down under the seat, the whole front and top are where the mesh is. I think one nice thing is if the pup can see out well and see you. Good luck. |

| Carrier Your KB bag is probably good enough unless you are going on a long flight, if its a medium size. Make sure your baby wears a good harness w/ID tags and has a solid leash. ID papers are in the side pouches of the bag. Very rarely are the dogs standing up, mostly, they just curl up and sleep. That is if your lucky , you do have to have room in your bag for a small favorite blanket and also a small chewy something toy. NOT FOOD type. I would not give your baby water until mid way through the flight cause that makes them want to pee, get some ice chips from the stew if needed, works better. IF and that's a big IF you can get away with it DONOT give your baby drugs when you fly. Think about how crappy you feel about the flying and they are so little and really understand even less. There are several good threads here on this site on travel, make the "bag" a happy place, arrive at the airport atleast two hours early, cause the TSA guys are idiots, atleast in my area, Sprocket does NOT ride in the KB bag in the airport, only after we are on the plane, the bag is also a treat. Also, the "stew" is always right, even if she's NOT, after all it's "her" plane, ie: her problem. Smile nice, it always gets you more, besides WE dont' have that squally loud baby!!!!! If the stew doesn't know you or your baby are there, no problems, she won't pay attention to you OR what you do after the plane takes off. And Gracie is small and if you have a good seat mate Gracie probably could sleep in your lap. OH an other really good thing to travel with is one of those really large head scarves, light weight, can double as a wrap thingy, covers up a small sleeping dog, got mine at walmart about $5, only thing it does not do is cover up the doggy snores . Oh well, my scarf snores. Another really good place to pick up misc info is at www.dogjuant.com tons of good info about lots of stuff. Sorry the post was so long. Mostly DON'T STRESS, have fun, atleast as much fun as flying can be.

| Thanks everyone for the replies. She ultimately will be flying with me a lot as I have to travel for work and will take her whenever I can. I guess I should add she will be flying a lot of she does well on this first trip. I don't plan on giving her any drugs, hopefully that's not a decision I will regret. My flight are usually fairly short, around 2 hours. She is such a good little girl and I take her everywhere in her kwigy Bo and no one ever knows she is with me. So maybe I will just take her in that since she is so used to it anyway. Can I carry her in my arms at the airport? I figured she would have to be in her bag in the airport as well, although she may actually like that better as I think it makes her feel safe. I do have one of those big scarves that I use for myself so that's an excellent idea to have it handy for her. When you talk about her papers, what papers? Her Akc registration papers? Vet papers? Not sure what all I need. She never wears a collar, but should I put one on her with her ID tag just for the trip? |

| Carrier Papers, sorry to be confusing, papers as in her ticket, piece of picture ID, our animal shelter issues them for a cost but check your vet, most planes do not require health certs, but they DO need to know she is coming on board, but if you have current vaccination records that's good, the current print out from the vet should be good. I would say yes to in the arms in the airport, but play it by ear, listen to HER. It's a big scary world out there. I would not put her in the bag til I was right ready to board, you know as well as I the plane is awful, small and smelly. Even though her bag is better than that it's still a long time to be in it. Just a thought. About the collar, I personally am against collars, our dogs have small tender throats. I am for the harness. The underarm body type, OK el cheapo at the walmat w/matching leash $10-15. The harness type with some kind of ID tags on it, dog name, your name, phone #, You can get that at the walmart too, any place that sells pet stuff, you know the drill, BUT if you have to grab Gracie, to protect her from that crazy ______ fill in the blank, you have a solid harness hand hold and can protect her, snatch her up, OH don't forget the large "NO". I know crazy, but they already think your the crazy dog lady. It is SO neat that you can take Gracie with you on your work trips, helps to calm you down from that craziness of the travel and work. BTW just a thought, IF this works out, the traveling w/Gracie and work thingy you might check into the HOME AGAIN pet program, its a pet locator program with the micro chip she has, the way I know about it is we travel a fair amount and this way no matter where Sprocket is his home info is there including his vet etc. a thought for later. As I said Have FUN, everyone here can tell you the best travel spots to take your dog in their city, whether Gracie is SEEN or UNSEEN, LOL that's the advantage of the KB bag right?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I think the Celltei you mention is the one I have for Marcel. I love it! Such great quality, very well made. I like the thoughtful features like the water bottle carrier etc. Celltei always has a clearance section, so I got mine brand new, but for 1/2 the usual price.

♥Love My 3 Furrbutts♥ Donating Member | I have the Sherpa bag in medium...Raelle can stand in it and turn around...she is 6.5lbs. I haven't flown with her 'yet', but I know this one is airline approved. I thought the Kwiggy bo was airline approved as well, so you may not need to buy another.

| I have the Celltei Pak-O-Pet Classic in size XS. I love, love this pet carrier. It's the only carrier I use, and I travel with it, too (take airline flights). |
