Well I just heard from the vet and Brandi is doing fine. They didn't find anything like bladder stones or any cancer. However she did notice that she had an infection in her kidney which could be responsible for her recurring uti's and it maybe causing the discomfort. She wants to put Brandi on a 3 month course of anti biotic to help get rid of the infection. She also wants to do regular cultures while she is on the antibiotics.

She also said that her uterus could also be the cause because when I first got Brandi, she had her spayed done at the humane association. The vet said they only take out part of the uterus which she noticed some swelling (I think that's what she said). It may be necessary to take out the rest of the uterus. For now she wants to start Brandi on the anti biotics. She didn't seem to concern about the uterus though not sure why. She believes its the infection in the kidneys that be causing the discomfort. Anyway, I will be picking Brandi up after work along with some metcam (for the discomfort)and more anti biotics.

Well, that's good news...I guess it's kind of a wait-and-see now. If the antibiotics completely eliminate the episodes, it'll save Brandi from possible surgery. I hope this is the problem...a recurrent infection is a cause of worry anyway, so taking care of it is undoubtedly a good thing. I am certain Brandi will be thrilled to be back home again. {{{Hugs}}} to you and Brandi...thanks for the update!

Hopefully you can give her some probiotics to keep from killing off the good flora in her gut when she has to have so much antibiotics.

I give her probiotics every day. My vet recommended a few months ago and I have been giving it to her ever since. I also give her cranidi (cranberry pills) as well. My vet thought this could help with recurring uti infections.

Poor baby...... I know the issues she is having now are probably the direct result of her previous owners who neglected her physical needs. They used her for breeding, she's had multiple c sections and she didn't get spayed until I got her at 7 yrs old. I've had to get all of teeth pulled and am now dealing with recurring uti. They neglected her so much and now I'm cleaning up the mess.

Awe that's so sad but bless you for giving her the love she deserves. Our Boxer had a UTI and was so uncomfortable until she started the antibiotics. I hope Brandi feels better in no time.
