| Pet Insurance or no Pet Insurance? I've recently divorced and moved. I am on my own with my two girls and on a limited budget. A few weeks ago, the girls got coccidia from a friend's dogs, who sometimes go for walks at a park. The vet said it was rare because the girls should be old enough to fight that off (3 yrs/Tia 2 yrs). The divorce and move in January could have been a strain on them, but I think they are so comfortable in their new surroundings. The new vet noticed Tia's LP, which doesn't bother her. Now, I'm worried that she will have problems and need surgery. A lady at the vet said she uses VPI and loves it. I always thought pet insurance was useless. I've looked at some, but I can't find one that might cover her LP, if surgery is needed down the road. Pre-existing conditions, hereditary, & LP are some of the major things that are not covered. Anyone have good pet insurance that might be helpful if the need arises? |

| I feel the same way about pet insurance... I don't have it and I'm honestly never going to get it because they're so picky about what is covered and what isn't and honestly in the long run, I feel that paying out of pocket or credit card is cheaper over time than paying monthly for pet insurance which you may never use... |

| I have all 4 of mine insured...It is costly!! But, I know they are covered if something major arises! We use Pet Plan. They have all been covered since they were pups, so they do not have any exclusions. Since your baby has already been diagnosed with LP, it will not be a covered benefit at this point. Had you insured them prior to a diagnosis, it would be covered. Good luck!

I have only had one big bill and that was for Micah and his conditions were all genetic so Ins. wouldn't have paid anyway....

| Sounds like my girls are going to get a Savings Account! lol I'm just hoping that they won't ask to drain the acct for a car when they get to that age...like my skin-babies did! I always have my credit cards for emergencies too. Thanks everyone. |

| I have all five of my dogs insured. It gives me peace of mind. They all started from pups so everything is covered. The max amount is £12,000 so I guess that should cover most things and is for life. My oldest dog is 14 and has diabetes, she would not be with us today if she were not insured. Her care must be around £ 40,00 by now and still being paid by her insurance. I think the main thing for you though is now that the girls are older, any existing condition would not be covered so I agree that a savings account and credit card for bigger emergencies would be best for you. Sorry to hear about the break up of your marriage but sounds like you have come through the other side. At least you got the girls.

| No, we don't have pet insurance. However, we do have an emergency fund for our household, and that includes Tatiana. |
