| oh my gosh. I am so glad Callie is ok. She was smart to stay away from it. Better keep some rocks by the door just in case it happens again. |

| I'm just trying to point out what you should have done- I still haven't seen you say you were going to put a leash on her to be safe... I wonder if this really happened? You ever hear that story " the girl who cried wolf?"

I am glad that Callie is ok. I don't think they would hurt our furbabies but I know that just seeing it scared me!

| We are so lucky where we live. The odd fox is all we have to worry about. Bet you were going frantic. Glad no harm done. Could yOu maybe fit a sensor light that would come in when there's movement in the garden to scare them off before she goes out ?

| I didn't realize from your original post that you have a fenced yard. I thought you were afraid that you dog would run off after the opossum. You said it was a big opossum but there must be a way it has to get into your yard. Opossum's are not the kind of animal that will attack any animal. Of course they will make a big fuss to try to look scary if they feel threatened but they are scavengers and not out for a fuss with anyone. They are slow movers and usually get the worst end of any encounter with dogs. Their inability to move quickly is also the reason you see them dead in the road as well. It sounds like your dog was more interested in the smell of the creature in it's yard than actually meeting the critter. We live away from the road down in the woods and have about every creature known to the north east passing through the yard at one time or another through out the day or night. Gracie loves everyone and would just love to meet a opossum. It sounds like your dog handled the whole situation very well since she did not have any interest in meeting the opossum face to face. Sorry you had such a scare. It sounds like the opossum was just as scared as you were! They really have little ability to protect themselves except their scary faces but it is best not to let your pets go after any wild animal. Your dog was smart enough not to. |

| Seriously? Now I'm a liar. Wow why would I make this up. I don't make things up and I'm very hurt you would think that. What I should have done which was put a leash on her right? Well in 5 years I have had Callie nothing like that has ever happened therefor there wouldn't have been a need for me to have her on a leash before that because one everything she could possibly get under in our back yard has chicken wire around it, two we do many walk arounds to check for holes around the fence, three Callie is to big to be picked up by an owl, and four WE HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM BEFORE! I am not allowing her to run around an unfenced yard like some people do so why not go attack them. I keep Callie safe!

| But that's not true go back in my history of posts and see where when someone had coyotes or anything I said glad every one is ok and that's scary and stuff. I never knew how bad I must come off to you people and how hated I am. That was not my intention. Guess I need to find some where else to post or something. All I can say is sorry.
