Just an update:

It's been a couple of weeks and there's still no improvement. She was on the pain meds for a little while, but it was causing her to vomit, so the vet said to take her off of it.

She still seems sad and lethargic, and sometimes doesn't eat. She has been taking her food, piece by piece, into the living room for some reason, or just leaving it to get soggy in her bowl. She still can't/won't jump up on the couch to sit with us, but will snuggle with us if we sit on the floor with her.

I guess we're going to call the vet again today, he said to keep him updated. I wish I knew what was wrong with her. Even the vet doesn't seem to know what we're looking for.

I am in no way trying to scare you but something similar happened with Georgie. It seemed like he became a different boy over the course of a couple of weeks. There was nothing that changed in our lives to cause this. He didn't want to play, go for walks and wasn't going up and down stairs ect....It ended up being AAI (you can read about it in my signature).

We spent so much money trying to get diagnosed at the Vet. It wasn't until we went to a specialist that we found out what was wrong. The Vet just didn't know and we wasted time and money going back and forth. Georgie is doing amazing now and is like a new little furry boy.

Again I promise I don't want to scare you but I think you should mention it to your Vet. I would also ask your Vet for an xray of the neck and spine.

I know how worried and frustrated you are. We were there and it was so tough since our furbabies can't tell us what's wrong. Georgie and I will pray for you, your DH and Roxie.

PS If the Vet says Roxie is to old to be diagnosed with AAI tell him you know a Yorkie that was 6. Our Vet didn't think Georgie had AAI because of his age. It's usually diagnosed in puppies.

I have to agree...if blood work is showing nothing and Roxy is not improving, it is time for a specialist and xrays or mris to determine what is going on.

Vet said to bring her in again this morning, and we're either going to do x-rays today or on Tuesday. He said it does sound like it might be a spinal issue.

OK good sounds like your Vet has some sense. All Georgie needed was the

Roxie I've been following your post. I sure hope you and your gal are doing fine.

I know how frustrating this can be, with your worry nipping at your heels, and concern/love tearing a hole in your heart.

Without an update (which I hope we have soon), it does sound to me like a Vet Specialty hospital is in order. Perhaps an Internal Medicine Specialist/ combo orthopaedic vet.

All my prayers and most positive thoughts for you and your gal.

When I got remarried I only had Mollie. She was very spoiled by me and my parents. When I moved in with my husband she came with me. I think she would have prefered staying with them. The first two weeks she was just grumpy. She would honestly walk to the other side of the room. She would spite pee in the house. She wouldn't walk or play. It was about a two week time period when she one night jumped in my husbands lap. From that point On she was his girl. I went thru this again when we brought Liz home. I have to say Lizzie who was my baby since the day she came home was so sad when Abbie showed up. She wouldn't sit in my lap or kiss me like she did I was heart broken. Now Abbie has been here about 2 months and her an Lizzie are best friends. Lizzie will still act all sad to get extra attention lol I would give your little one time to adjust

I suppose that these symptoms could have been building up little by little when you were preoccupied with wedding plans and you just didn't notice. If she was on the verge of some sort of spinal or joint degeneration and they over worked her at the kennel it could have made the situation become worse much more quickly. It could also be that she was injured at the kennel but no one was telling you. Maybe another dog could have gotten a hold of her. It's so sad that these babies can't tell us what is wrong. I hope x rays will show you something. It appears something is making it difficult for her to move. Maybe get her some steps to get up on the couch or help her up there.
Anti inflammatory medications can be very helpful for joint and other types of pain but they are notorious for being caustic to the stomach. They should only be given (to either animals or humans) on a full stomach. Giving them with just a small amount of food or no food can cause real damage to the gastric system.
I hope they pin point her problem soon. Hopefully you have a good diagnostic specialist near by.

Vet visit on Saturday wasn't too productive (yet somehow it was still very expensive). He wants a urine sample to check her kidney function. We're going to have to drop that off tomorrow, after the holiday.

Her eating habits aren't getting any better. She has very little interest in eating. Her food goes untouched for hours. Sometimes she comes back for it later, and sometimes she doesn't. I hand fed her both of her meals yesterday...it was the only way I could get her to eat. She has been drinking water without any problem, though.

We had pet stairs at one point, and we actually got rid of them because she didn't want to use them. We tried treats and everything, she just wanted to jump up on and down off of the couch.

I'm feeling pretty defeated here and I worry about her constantly when we aren't with her. I'm also worried that the vet doesn't seem to see an obvious course of action. He was a great vet when our hamster was sick last year...so I trust his judgment.

How old is she again. I am asking because my oldest had stoped eating at a point and I wasn't sure what the problem was. My husband watched her eat and she had a very hard time chewing. We took her in they cleaned her teeth and she lost several due to an infection. She was latharrgic as well just laid around I am sure it was due to pain

I couldn't find your original post can you give me a short version of what happened before this started. I work with rescues as well as my own. I may have some clue as to what to ask your vet. Have you ever gotten a second opinion from another vet?
