| I won't feed a brand that uses a lot of grain. However, there are many grain free brands that I also would not buy because they replace grain with white potatoes or other filler ingredients. I don't feed my dog anything that a dog would not naturally eat. Many of those brands put flavor additives and even various forms of glucose in the food to get the dog to eat the stuff. |

| Typical terrier pups. Constantly charging around bouncing of everything and everyone. Tails and bodies wagging with excitement. Chasing each other and play fighting. Nothing out of the ordinary

| Burns is a realy good qualit good. Their philosophy though is that excess protein is bad for animals and can lead to liver/ kidney problems in older dogs if fed through their life. I believe the manufacture in the US now too. They have a website.

| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Lol, I guess they are all hyperactive! Seriously, I've always thought a dog should have a good amount of energy and that's a sign you are nourishing them well. Concerning too much energy, a trainer should have adviced you to give more exercise, walking isn't the only form of exercise. Making them earn their kibble works too, through a toy and give them a piece of kibble when they return it. I've heard of a few people who use doggy tread mills!

| Gracie refused to eat any kind of kibble as a puppy. I cooked for her for several months while I tried to find a solution. I was forced to study pet foods and the industry in general. I was shocked to find out that so many pet foods are full of grain and synthetic vitamins. I am now feeding a grain free commercial raw food. There are few good ones out there. Right now I am feeding Primal. It is made from hormone and steroid free meat with some vegetables and natural vitamins. She loves it and is doing very well on it. |

| We tried Merrick Before Grain once and my dogs loved it. It was the Buffalo formula. I got it on sale so I tried it. After it was gone I went back to the food I had been feeding. I am not sure if it is appropriate for puppies though. For puppies, you should use either a puppy formula or an all life stages formula food. When my dogs were puppies, we fed them Nature's Variety Prairie foods (mostly the chicken one because it was cheapest). They did very well on it. I did change to TOTW for awhile, but now feeding Fromm 4-Star Nutritionals (the grain inclusive ones). I rotate between the different formulas. Right now on the Duck and Sweet Potato and doing well. I'd love to switch to Acana, and my do that in the near future, or at least give it a try.
