Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Rainy day ideas? It seems like we are having rain almost every single day here lately! How do you guys exercise your babies indoors? We play chase, but our house is small. I wish we had an indoor doggy park. Lol. Any creative ideas? Thanks!

| we had rain all last week and thankfully since cedric and lola have started bonding honestly they are tuckering each other out. it is awesome for him to have someone his size to play with. not that this will help you and KS but with cedric hes obsessed with empty water bottles and will play fetch with it all day long. lol maybe you need to teach ks to start sewing! lol have a good day.

| If Katie Scarlett is as creative as her mama, she will be sewing up a storm soon!

| Tibbe loves the treat under the cup game. I put a small treat under one of 3 upside down cups & he sniffs for it and has to turn over the cup to eat it. Then we celebrate his "win". He loves it & I use a piece of kibble that doesn't have a great deal of smell to it to make it a little harder and more challening for him. After a while, all the cups smell some of the treat so it is not quite so easy - especially as Tibbe hasn't an overly well-developed nose. He loves challenge games.

| In trying to develop more of Tibbe's natural dog instincts, such as a "nose", I will hide pieces of kibble around the den & kitchen while he stays in the bedroom & then we play "seek", as he runs into the rooms & starts to sniff out the "treats"(sometimes I have to show him toward a treat if he just can't pick up a scent). He loves games where he has to rely on old, long-dead instincts. Many of our dogs live lives almost stripped of their true canine ways & seem to have a lot of behavioral problems maybe because of it. The more we can let our dogs be dogs part of each day the happier they are.

It is a bit nightmare-y isn't it when it just rains and rains...big as he is, Harry's a bit of a baby when it comes to getting wet I too wish there were more indoor places where he could actually run...I don't think the staff at Pets at Home are that happy about Harry taking off around the aisles.... | We also play "Listen". Turn off the TV or stereo & tell Tibbe to "Listen". When he reacts to a sound, I wall up my eyes, cut them dramatically to one side & ask "What is it???" and we look around and if the noise goes away, he stops reacting. If it is something he keeps listening to or starts to go toward the direction of the noise, I will often go with him and tell him to "Check It Out". We will often go & look out the window or back into other parts of the house & come back with the "alert" is over & he gets a treat. If he growls or barks, I thank him after a few of those & we "Check It Out", though I only encourage him to bark for odd noises that are out of the usual or those "old favorites" dogs love to bark at like the noise of the garbage truck coming down the alley, the mailman, someone at the door. Other noise, I am trying to teach him to "alert" by reacting but only barking if there is a noise on our property outside or a strange house noise when it is quiet. Silly game but he enjoys it & he's learns that not every noise needs a barking response. And it's teaching him to use his hearing senses without being a yappy dog.

| We play fetch up and down the stairs. lol. I sit at the top, throw the ball, and make him run back up the stairs. Also, hide and seek. I go hide, and then tell him to "come" and he finds me! hehe, he loves this. Of course trick training. We always do some training but moreso on a rainy day! Also sometimes we will go to the pet store to walk around.

| I grab an umbrella and take Stuart out. Otherwise, we play tug of war and "attack the monkey."

Tatiana still seems to enjoy the walk when it's drizzling. Also, we receive all kinds of funny reactions from people when we're out (I have a matching raincoat with my small yorkie). We're a spectacle. | |
