Help! Yorkie has thin smooth hair.

Does the hair only grow to reach the top of the feet naturally or is it trimmed that way?

Well, did you pay a purebred price or a mix price? Often it seems that if your getting a deal that seems too good to be true...it is.

it grows that way, but it has to be trimmed to make it cuter..LOL
thank you , I love my silkies and I will not trade them for all the money in the world, I also have an off standard yorkie, that I love dearly too..

Yeah, this is true too!!! They can argue that in court as well if this is the case.

A lot of us have "off standard" Yorkies on this forum. Mine weighed in at 7.6 lbs. at 8 mos. only reason I weighed him is that I need to get giardia meds from the rescue where I got him.

You MUST be certain you are NOT unjustly accusing a breeder of unethical behavior, based on the color of the pups face and the texture of his coat!!!! That will get YOU sued for defamation of character, at the very least! I can tell you, there are MANY yorkies with dark faces....it is a color fault for them to remain with dark faces/heads, but it does not mean they are NOT purebred Yorkies!!! I can also tell you, if your baby has a course coat, which it looks to me like he has, his coat will look EXACTLY what your baby's coat looks like. That course coat will eventually come in silky. Before you listen to a lot of speculation, based on nothing but thumbnail pictures, I would strongly advise you to have your pup DNA tested. You can also politely ask the breeder to have your pups pedigree....do NOT accuse her of misconduct at this point, just do your research FIRST!!! You can tell her you are researching the different lines of Yorkies, just out of curiosity..... IF YOU GET UNREFUTABLE, FACTUAL VERIFICATION THAT YOUR PUP IS NOT PURE BRED, AND IT WAS SOLD TO YOU AS SUCH, ONLY THEN SHOULD YOU GO FORWARD WITH THIS, OR YOU ARE SETTING YOURSELF UP FOR A WHOLE BUNCH OF LEGAL TROUBLE, AND RIGHTLY SO!!!!

I certaintly agree with the statement above, a DNA test is the most reliable way of knowing, I have all my dogs DNA tested, but again my son is studiying Veterinary medicine, and I don't pay as much, but to MAKe sure have him tested. I also think that your baby WILL have a very silky coat, my silkies have a smooth looking coat when babies.. and I showed you how my girl looks today..

My ZoE wasn't "fluffy" as a puppy. As an adult she has silky hair that hardly ever matts or tangles.

Here's ZoE the day she turned 11 weeks old.

Your baby reminds me of my CoCo. She is 5 1/2 months now and still is not "fluffy". The pic of her with the pink sock sweater & clips in her hair is from right at 12 weeks. My avi pic is from about 2 months ago, so she would have been about 4 months old. The 2nd pic (sleeping with her sister)is from this past weekend at 5 1/2 weeks.

funny thats exactly what i was thinking, although i am in no way an expert..i agree with what other are saying, the only way to be sure is have a dna test done. your baby is totally adorable though

I can't say for sure if your baby is 100% pure yorkie, but what I DO KNOW is that is one of the cutest lil furbabies I've ever seen :-) I have a a yorkie/chihuahua mix, he name is Maggy. I have a lot of pics of her in her album here, some when she was a baby as well, you're more than welcome to take a look at them and look at her in her album, maybe that might help? Congrats on your new furbaby!!
