| New here, and new to Yorkie slavery Hello!! Our family has just been invaded by our first yorkie!! She is 10 weeks, and she is a perfect princess, we named her Sophie. What a delight! And playful...I dont think i have ever had a pup so playful...are your babies super playful too? I cant keep up with toys, she plays tug, loves lil stuffed babies, and tiny tennis balls. She will push them around the floor like a pig...cracks me up. And wow, what a cuddler!! with both me and my boys!! just amazing!! Her first bath here went off without and issue. But the second one, wasnt so easy. What can I do to make sure she enjoys it? Seeing she will be needing plenty of them. She all ready likes her hair being brushed...thank goodness. Potty training is hit or miss. Any advice and tips on owning our first I would love to hear!! and thank you for having us |

| welcome to you and ur new baby sophie. they are very playful. my mother came over yesterday and said it looks like a baby daycare in here with all the toys and bullies you have everywhere. haha. cedric is not good about putting his toys away but boy he can move them all over like no tomorrow! potty training my best words of advice watch her like a hawk and be consistent with praise when she does it correctly. i made a huge deal of cedric going on his potty pads and i still do now. he loves when i praise him for doing it correctly. bathing well im still not so sure cedric enjoys it but we do it almost weekly and hes used to it by now. good luck with your new owner!! hehe.

| Congratulations on your new family member! Hearing about new puppies always gives me the puppy fever. Bathing her once a week will help to make the procedure more of routine to her. Keep her warm and get her used to the blow dryer. Comb everyday. Twice a day is even better. It doesn't matter if she looks like she needs it or not. She needs to know that this is a way of life now and it will pay off as she gets older and the coat becomes more to manage. Besides keeping her combed prevents tangles that make grooming more unpleasant for her. Once she is combed through using a good pin brush will also help to finish the coat. I have my first Yorkie and she is almost 2 now. I have had dogs all my life but have to say the Yorkie personality was quite a bit different than all the other dogs I have had. My little one thinks she is one of those terriers that used to kill rodents in past generations. She was quite an A personality as a puppy. We had to try to keep her calm because she really liked to play rough. Not all Yorkies are like that. Hopefully you have a peace loving puppy! Best wishes on your new adventure. |

| Yes, Ive had to clean my living room twice today, and it was all puppy toys. Cant even blame my youngest son who is home today. Ive bathed her twice now, (she has been home for 2 weeks) I brush her daily. She does play super rough, but she will cuddle too.

| Hi and welcome to the world of being "owned" by a Yorkie. My husband and I have been bossed around for 6 1/2 years now LOL. Georgie loves his toys even now he doesn't play as much but he still plays. He used to play really hard like your Sophie when he was younger. As far as baths good luck making it enjoyable and when you figure out how please share with me Other people here can help with potty training because judging by the "accident" I had to clean up this morning I am not your girl LOL. Again welcome you will love it here

| Hi and welcome to you and Sophie to Yorkie Talk! It seems like the norm here on giving our furbabies a bath once a week. It's great that she loves to be brushed. That's one hurdle you don't have to worry about. If she has enough hair on her head, you might want to start putting little rubberbands in it now so she can get used to that. On potty training, Yorkies tend to be harder than other breeds but it can be done. I thought my little Ahi was never going to get it but now she never makes mistakes.(Only we do lol) Positive reinforcement is the key. Enjoy YT, but beware...this site can get really addicting.

| Hi and welcome. Your really brave bathing yours not once but twice by 10 weeks. My two are 16 weeks and I have never bathed them. They've been to the groomer once. They are so funny running around crashing into things. I thought about changing one of their names to Taz lol. Mind chase each other until I step in and seperate them or I think they would run till they dropped. Enjoy every minute they are just tooooo cute.

I just brought my first Yorkie in our home two weeks ago. Ryder is 12 weeks. He is VERY playfull as well!! He LOVES squeaky toy and playing tug-a-war with his big brother! After awhile of playing with big brother, he likes to take a nap and snuggle with his Mommy. <3 Our potty training is hit or miss as well. Sometimes he uses the pad and sometimes he doesn't. We do take him outside on a regular basis and he goes every time, so that part is good. I just bought him a PlayPen today to help with the house training. Everyone on here has told me that free range of the house is not good for house training. I'm hoping this PlayPen will help him! Since he's so small, it still leaves him PLENTY of space to jump around and play all he wants. | |

| My friend who is a grommer told me to touch the paws every day so that when you or a groomer cuts the nails they won't mind as much...my little one will be with us next week! |
