| Another coat question!! I have never owned ayorkie before and had only seen adult ones until I got Ceeby. My husband says he has the worst looking hair of any dog he has ever seen. He is nearly five months old. he has very long hair already. i want it long. problem is, he looks oily all the time and like he has static all the time. Plus, his eyebrows are just now starting to hang down but they are not long enough for a topknot. His legs have very long hair and his belly is nearly hairless except for his chest area. His hair next to his mouth looks to be growing back toward his ears but i comb it down. The hair on his lower ears is going toward his jaws. I know this may seem silly but is this the way a yorkie is supposed to look? His head hair is white as cotton I can't really tell what color the rest of him is. i can't tell if he is black and gold, black and tan or dark brown and tan. I think it is black and tan at this point but the tan looks a little goldish. Please don't laugh at me. Ya'll know I am just learning. Thanks for any replies/ |

| They do look a little funny when they have that breaking white on their heads but that changes in time. My females changed to a light tan and now she is gorgeous at 11 months old. I dont know what to tell you about the oily hair I havent had that problem but maybe someone else has.

| I wanted to tell you to just be patient letting the hair grow out. They go through so many changes and it does get better. My jewels hair was very scraggly growing out. I did have her groomed one time to cut the puppy hair out. I just recently had her groomed again but I told them to just shape her not to take any length off. She came home looking like a little show dog. I am glad I let her hair grow out it is so pretty. Ceebys will be also it just takes time.

| Sugar's Mom --- Your Yorkie sounds just like mine - almost exactly. I have this sparse, thin-haired, oily little thing with white on the top of his head. Actually - I guess it is silver (that's what I've been told)... But wait for this ---now he getting white/silver hair roots all over his body (back, sides, and stomach). It's as though he is going to eventually turn silver all over. The hair on my Yorkie's body is every color in the world -- and changing daily. I can't wait to see what he actually turns out to be!!! I don't know what to do about his oily hair - hopefully, this is a puppy thing and when his hair becomes thicker later, he will be less oily. I'm hoping!!!! Carol Jean |
