I take my (2) to puppy day care. I use Bark Avenue. They love it. I use it to give them doggie socailizing and a chance to go outside rather stay inside all day while I am at home. They are very good and I did my research before I choose this facility. The little furbabies stay together the ones that are their "daycare" ones. The over nighters are keep seperate since they dont stay all the time. They have their seperate play area they have access to all day. The bigger dogs are in another area and they have access to the pool. I like this place and I know my 2 love it too. I can tell by the way the act when we get out of the car. When they come home in the afternoons they are worn out. I always ask what did you learn in daycare today. Did you learn your ABC's? LOL

I take them 3- days a week and the other 2- days I have a sitter who comes by and takes them outside for an hour.

Do your research on the facility. And do just like you would with a baby nursery. Pop in any time and check the place out and also when your furbabies are there.

I would advise you to check the place out very well. Go there yourself a few times and observe how they care for the dogs and if there is always at least two responsible persons with the dogs at all times.

Personally, I couldn't do it. I would feel so bad if my dog was harmed in any way. You just can't predict what is going on in the brain of another dog and what it may do under unusual circumstances.

I had viewed the site yesterday and took Loki (our Golden/Rott) to see what he thought. I took him today for about 3 hours and I cried my eyes out when I dropped him off.

He did NOT want to stay! However, I called to check on him about half way through and she said they were playing outside at that very moment.

She said they played outside for about 30 minutes each time during the 3 hours he was there. I was so happy to go pick him up, and he was extremely happy to see me as well!

She said that he was very well trained. *Happy parent moment.* Glad to know we did great with training him!

How do these doggie daycares accomodate dogs that are potty pad trained and not outdoor trained?

You know that is a good question. How do they take care of the potty needs of all those dogs? There are so many different ways of training. How on earth do they deal with young dogs that are still in the training process?

The lady down the street from me who is a vet tech, runs her own doggy daycare.. When I know we are going to away from the house all day, I take him to her. She has a big yard, and keeps the big dogs dogs form the little ones. But I know this women and I trust her.. And that is the most important thing.

I wondered the SAME thing! My Golden/Rott is fully house trained. I put him in the daycare so he can get outside time since we don't have a fenced in yard for him. However.. I thought about taking little Ryder so he's not so lonely at home without our other dog home to play with while we're gone. I need to find that out, because he pees a lot! Lol. Maybe I need to take some puppy training pads with him?? That would atleast be my guess.

I took Jasper to doggie day care for 1 morning a week starting when he was about 8 months old. I wanted to get him socialized with other dogs since he spent most of his time with our 2 cats:-) It was very hard leaving him there the first day and he was very scared when we walked in and all the dogs started barking. I knew they separated the small dogs from the big dogs so I wasn't worried about that. The first couple of times he was skittish, but after that he would get excited when he saw where we were going. Before long all I had to do was say the name of the daycare and he would get excited and go wait by the door to go! The daycare owner took pictures and sent one home of him and his little poodle friend:-)

His little brother is only 4 months old and I plan to have them both go for one morning a week when he's old enough. I highly recommend it!

Ryder is 12 weeks. So, I probably should wait longer? I put our other dog in it and Ryder was so sad and lonely when he didn't get to go and had to stay home alone.

Our bigger dog was terrified his first day, he'd never been around dogs his size. Today was a little better when I dropped him off. So, hopefully it'll just keep getting better!

I know he comes home tired!

I love doggy daycare. We have quite a few in town, and I've been to two of them. Be sure to have a look around prior to taking your dog there. I know they were more than accommodating to me when I did my first look around before going.

All in all, worth every dollar if your dog enjoys the company of other dogs!
